Help with workflow

Ok, let me just tell you guys what I would like to do and then if anyone can help me it would be very apreciated...

I have Scarlet footage 4k (4096x2156) and I would like to edit it in a 2:1 timeline 2k (2048x1024) so I can reframe and zoom whenever I want (4k gives you that)

How should I do this? I been trying some different workflows but at some point I always get stucked...

Workflow A
1. Convert each clip to ProRes LT in RedCine X Pro for an OffLine edit (All clips are still 4K but ProRes LT) (and takes a lot of time!!)
2. Edit in FCP in a 2048x1024 timeline so I can zoom and reframe (I do need Render every time I scale a cut, but I can live with that)
3. Once the edit is finished I would like to send this final edit to Color or even RedCine X Pro to grade the cuts BUT from RAW.
This is when I get stucked. :bored:

Workflow B
1. Log and transfer all clips at FCP, but I get 2048x1080 clips so I can't re-size the clips...
Stucked again :bored:

Any suggestions please...??

Wow... no one??

I think I figured out a valid workflow...

1. Convert each clip to ProRes LT 4K in RedCine X Pro for an offline edit in FCP
2. Edit in FCP in a 2048x1024 timeline with all the zooming and reframing you need.
3. Export XML and import it to RedCine X Pro (reconnecting with the R3D files), where I can see and grade each cut.
4. XML or RedCine X Pro does't recognize the zooming and reframing from FCP but since I have a 'guide' (the fcp edit) I can do it again in RedCine X Pro at the framing tab.
5. RedCine X Pro is giving me the full 4k although I had edit in 2k in FCP. The trick here is zooming and reframing at this framing window and then export the whole thing in 2048x1024.

It looks great, so it's ok for me.

If anyone can improve this workflow, please let me know...

If you use Resolve for grading, it has some of the best scaling in the industry too.

But apart from that, I don't see a better way with FCP. Premiere Pro would save you from repeating the reframing, though…
