Hi all,

We did some tests last week the first 2 rolls were transcoded with redgamma3

The last roll we did something with the curves saved look to camera and then shot some clips.

Now that clip won't go back to raw or when we put the look back on it looks different.

Does anyone have any ideas why this would happen?

What's the best process for applying looks

I've watched videos and searched the forum but can't find an answer.

I thought nothing burned into raw?

Many thanks in advance for all responses

I use redline x to transcode and the post use avid.

We want to shoot with the look on but they want the raw file as well.

I know in cinieX you just toggle between metadata but post didn't seem to have an R3D and RMD

Oh and thanks for getting in touch Pat you've been very helpful in the past for me.

Sorry just re-read my post and I've been a bit unclear.

Basically on one of the R3D files we applied an s curve and it has carried over into the Nucoda film master and can't be switched off.

In CineX It can be toggled on and off but in Nucoda the R3D file seems to have the look stuck on it

You'r Welcome James ;-)

Do you work on a copy of your files? Often I use the Master Hard drive to do my color corrections in Redcine-x, so the RMD files (metadata colors) are copied only on that Master Hard drive. If you want to copy to your other copy drives (Dub) Redcine-x is not great in managing the RMD files. The RMD are usually stored in the folder containing the R3D files.

IF THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM THEN :

The technique to copy the RMD from one drive to the other is, TAKE A BIG BREATH:

- Open the HD containing the R3D and the RMD color decision in Redcine-x
- Create a "RMD" folder in the finder
- Change the REDCINE preference to "Master RMD directory" "Change..." choosing your newly created "RMD" folder
- Select all your clips (do this for every bin you create)
- Add an attribute wich is not destructive to all those selected clips, I usually change the framing from 1:85 to 2:1 then back to 1:85...

This will automatically recreate all the RMD in your "RMD" folder, then you can make the reverse action...

- Open the HD Copy (Dub) containing the R3D without the RMD.
- Keep the "RMD" folder as main RMD folder
- Change the attribute of all your clips in all your bins (framing), this will recall the color decision of the "RMD" folder

- Then Change Preference to "Master RMD directory" "Clear"
- Change the attribute of all your clips in all your bins (framing), this will recreate the color decision in the clips folder...

I don't know if there is a smoother technique... ;-)

Try to delete the RMD file wich is in the folder with the R3D clip. I don't know Nucoda film master.

Thanks Pat I will try that I had dragged the files into a shuttle drive from my master so this could be the problem (I have 2 master and 1 shuttle)

So you are saying you cannot drag RMD files to another drive?

Would it be possible to post some screen grabs of the process for me to copy as I'm struggling to understand the instructions (my dyslexic mind not your instructions) Thanks so much once again for your help

Yes you can drag the RMD file to another drive. But usually you copy all the clip folder containing the R3D file(s) and the RMD together. Usually the shuttle is stored before doing the color corrections in Redcine-x and don't get the DP's last color decisions. For the Step by step, it will be difficult for me to do it now.

Have a nice evening
