Hi all! I'm having a difficult time finding a grade that suits this image - any help for direction would be greatly appreciated! We shot this in a public space for a music video and used available lighting (which was not great). I'm sort of kicking myself as most of the other scenes were lit and look much better than this image straight out of the camera, so I'm trying to see if I can make this look better than it is.

As an example of another shot from the same video posted right below...this is what the above shot is competing with. This is from a different scene:

Thanks Neil - that's something I didn't even think about - desaturating the wall in resolve. I've been focusing on trying to getting the overall look to be decent, but the wall keeps getting in the way since it's the same color as her skin in that light. I'll try that!

Jeff, this looks fantastic, I think it's close to what I was trying to get to, but I'm not an experienced colorist (really small budget project). Did you do the wall separation in resolve? Would you care to share how you got the skin tone looking much better than the original?

Glad it helped, I only used RCX. I set the WB to her teeth, tweaked the tint and temp a bit from there. The original meta values were really yellow, but decent color info is still in there. You can apply the RMD I made for you to your video clip in RCX to check out the settings I used.
Best, Jeff

Ah Thanks, I didn't even see that you included the RMD, thanks!

This one looks great!! Was resolve used here? I'm trying to see if I can get away with only using red cine x as most of the other shots do not need resolve because they were lit and shot exactly the way i wanted, it's just this one scene that is giving me trouble.

Thanks, that's interesting. It doesn't have to match the other shot exactly. It was just an example to show that there are scenes in the video which I think look good because they were in controlled lighting situations, and I wasn't sure how to clean up the shot I posted. I think the one thing bothering me in the original shot is that the skin tone is hard to pull out without making the wall change color too, which is why I like your 'natural' looking one a lot
