Hello Reduser Forum,
sorry for the lame question, but I'm trying to understand what hardware resources I need for a certain job. Beyond the obvious question regarding storage, what is the minimum hardware requirement to finish a 20min cut (shot originally in 4K) to 720P 4:2:2 (DVCproHD) eventually? A full functioning "Scratch" suite is out of the question for me, maybe later. For now I'm just trying to figure out what I need hardware-wise to finish in HD before I start, so I avoid a lot of frustration and days of rendering. Any advise for Intel-Mac FCP Studio user? Thanks!

Depending on your shooting ratio, anything from a MBP or iMac up to a MacPro Octo could be advised, since you'll only need it for conversion from RED Raw to DVCProHD, andthat process is CPU only (I'd recommend RedRushes by the way). After that, even a four year old machine would do, since DVCProHD is not very demanding.
So, it's all about the balance between shooting ratio, time and money …

And, BTW, you'll be fine using FCS-2 all the way to CC – if you know how to handle it.
