I remember a thread that had some solutions to the 300fps flicker problem. I can not find it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I also remember someone saying 299fps helped solve the problem. I'm looking for the thread that has shutter degrees and FPS listed as solutions.

Going into a job that will shoot off speed and don't want to get blindsided.

Thanks,

Hi,

I did a job with 300fps a couple of weeks ago and posted it here:

First, take a day or two to do tests with your lightning otherwise you'll get yourself into trouble with flicker issues.

Second, use big sources, HMI Flickerfree oR HS above 2.5K or Tungsten above 5K.

Third, at 2K lower your iso and stop down your lens to stay clean.

Cheers,
J

Have shot two Jobs in "300" frames and failed to find any solution that worked really good. The flicker problem is present even at 100 frames. Have been tweaking shutter speed on set for a looong time. Still ended up with flicker. Have used both 12K HMI Arri sun, and 5K Tungsten. Same problem. And in 2K 300 frames somewhat underexposed you get an image that is so full of noise that it is virtually unusable. I don't know if this is the link you're looking for but check it out:

To be 100% sure there won't be any flicker:
- use 3200K lights 5K and above (avoid 5600K lights unless you are sure they are OK. I was shooting with HMI on Flicker free and still there was flicker)
-Do not use dimmers
-Monitor your histogram. If there is flicker you will see histogram shaking
-If you need to use 5600K light, if you have a chance - test it before
