  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Help! Weapon not reading image or SSD

Experiencing a bit of a weird issue this weekend. The camera is turning on but failing to read the image from the sensor or the SSD. Its a 6K Weapon MG with a 136 hours on it, curious to know if anyone else has suffered the same problem ? Appreciate any advice in advance!
 
Thanks Bob! possible to Install if the camera cannot read the SSD ?
 
Tried everything and unfortunately the camera is going back to RED. No clue whats going on.
 
Keep us in the loop as to what they find and the cost to fix...
 
Absolutely - camera has arrived at HQ - waiting on response.
 
What RED is saying is that Wooden Camera and there pass through top plate is who is too blame. I have been issued a $5686 repair bill to fix my weapon and RED has agreed to handle $1189 of that. I have an email out to Wooden Camera to see if they want to support it any way - bad news.
 
There seems to be a reccuring issue with Wooden Camera accessories and RED cameras at the moment. Can some breakdown exactly is going on...

- What is the actual problem?
- When did this start?
- Is it specific to certain Wooden cameras and/or certain RED models?
- What modules or components in the camera are actually breaking to make the repairs so expensive?

I'm wary of using their accessories with the RED cameras at the moment.
 
James, still waiting for a report is what exactly is going on. But what RED is saying is that there was a short in the connection of the top plate and the camera and that is what fired the internal board. Started two weeks ago now. Not sure on if its specific or not, again still waiting to here back with a full report. What was destroyed is what is reffered to DSMC2 Brain Left Side Board and that piece alone is $3750.
 
Tommaso, I believe its the new newest version, no internal battery.

Chris, what has Wooden Camera had to say about this?
 
After a week of looking at the camera we are still at a stand still. Wooden Camera wanted to see the top plate to make sure nothing is wrong with it, as they have claimed that this issue is extremely unlikely and could be the cause of user error - not sure how thats possible with 4 screws but you never know.

As of yesterday RED could not confirm that the problem was Wooden Camera related and I am now waiting on the technicians at RED to see what is going on. So at the moment I have no clue whats happening with the camera... which is a little unnerving. That being said, RED is making sure they have looked at everything to try and figure out whats going on nd making sure they make the right prognosis. Hoping to have a solution by next week.
 
Final update: Red could not confirm what caused the board shortage. But, because I had a pass through plate on my weapon blame was shifted too that as it was a 3rd party piece. Red Covered $1100 of the repair which left me at a final bill of $4508.13 - bummer.
