Am having a strange result on my R3D footage after shooting with RED ONE last week. A strange vertical white lines appeared on my footage but it only appears in this scene and its every frames. If we play it, the strange vertical lines are moving down in a straight line from the top of the footage. Just for another information, all footage in this scene was saved in only one CF card, so it doesn't separated in 2 or more CFs. It was a really hot day when were shoot it, but this is not the only scene that we shoot outdoor. There is another outdoor scene that has more frames, but it turned out fine.

This has never happened before and am wondering if you guys has ever experienced this.

We're shooting at:

REDCODE 28
50 FPS
COLOR TEMP 5000
SHUTTER 180
3K 16:9
Build 21.4.1

Here I attached a still frame of one of the footage from the particular scene. If you need to see it clearer, there's a link to watch the short clip. (Watch closely on the hair beside her cheek).

Can anyone help, please? Am hoping to find the answer of what causing this strange result. Thanks heaps, guys. Any kind of comment or those who's just sharing experiences would be very much appreciated :)

I HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. The one time a friend of mine had a similar issue he was shooting - just like you -outside on a very hot day. While the camera does not give you an overheating warning for the CPU, I believe the sensor itself generates this type of artifact.

You need to keep the camera cool, put shade over it, or even use cold gel packs.

I had this issue crop up once as well, sent the log file to Red along with sample clip. No definitive answer but it's not a hardware fault, more of an overheating fault. It occurred during a very hot shoot and hasn't happened since.

Hi Paul, your threads is one of my research source in knowing the real problem that might cause those result. Unfortunately, it happened again in our other TVC, using the same camera and in this case, we're shooting indoor.

Moreover, when we're trying to upgrade it with Build 30, what happened is we can see from the viewfinder and the Red Pro monitor that there were many white vertical lines like it's raining.

My wild guess would be something connected with the hardware or the Firmware? But yes, no definitive answer from the Red Team. I've sent the footage and they asked me to send the camera which impossible right now coz we need it as a backup body.

So yeah, still doing some research on that and collecting source as many as possible.

Thanks,
Dewi
