Dumb question, but it's early and I am on set wondering why I am not able to get the 4:3 framelines out of the camera. The AC is telling me that since both the EVF and RED LCD are up, it is impossible for the HD-SDI feeds to get the framelines. Is this true? If so, damn. If not, help. Thanks.

Yes, that's true. If you have both the EVF and LCD displaying additional info, there's not enough computing power left for the external screens to show anything more than the bare image.

I know this was the case on build 15 and earlier. I guess it still hasn't been fixed yet.

One solution is to tape a piece of plexiglass to the front of the HD-SDI monitor and draw your own framelines. Or maybe you can tape pieces of string to the front of the monitor to make up the framelines.

Put the frame lines up on the externals and then tape off the 4x3 frame lines.

Go back the other settings for the LCD and EVF. All the monitors will have frame lines now.

We have done this in the past (taping the monitor to safe size). The operator and 1st still get all the info and video village sees only what it needs to see ;)

We use a Duo Frameliner for the client and playback monitors. Cleaner and more precise than taping off the monitors

My understanding is that this will never happen for the One -- I don't think it has the hardware capabilities to accomplish this.

Maybe by doing a "Y" off the HD SDI output and using a different LCD at the camera to take a copy of that as the input?

Is there such a thing?

if that was the route to go, rather than "Y"ing the connection, I would just use the loop through on that other onboard monitor. the only thing is, a lot of guys like to have the RED LCD up, and the EVF, AND another onboard. I wish they could all have framelines....but doesn't sound like that is gonna happen.

What they need to do [at RED] is to create an 'off' switch in the menu's that will allow us to kill the frame lines/clip numbers off either the EVF or the LCD..thus opening up the possibility of frame lines/clip numbers on a monitor running off the camera's video out.
