In the middle of nowhere with one phone with reception; Epic is dropping frames. Camera gives no indication of dropped frames but it is still happening. Tried reboot, system reset, pulling battery and waiting for cache to clear no change.

Are you getting the dropped frames after offloading the media, or while Playback in Camera? If in camera Playback is fine, check all the factors in the Offloading Path. Cables, readers, connections, etc.

Just had the same problem, My fans were not cooling the camera properly. It was even cold for ambient temp, 60 deg. still camera was overheating, I blew out the fans, there must have been some dirt or something in the fans then I turned them to 55% for record and 100% on stand by. It fixed the problem for my shoot, now I have to figure out why the cam is overheating. I'll redo the firm ware this weekend and hopefully that solves the prob. so for me, it was dropping frames due to overheating.

It was the 64GB SSDs. I ended up loading an older firmware and that worked.

No. The camera was generating its own timecode, untethered from any other device including sound mixer. I thought about something else that happened at the same time that was odd. The BTS photographer was shooting video with a DSLR and he lost all his footage at the same time my camera started misbehaving. Don't know if we were hit my some micro EMP or what.

Hmm weird. Anyway, thanks for the response. Having a somewhat similar issue here, and seems to be pointing towards timecode problems.
