I've spent hours on reviewing the manual plus Reduser posts, but can't find an answer to what is probably a simple answer to my problem. I'm trying to upgrade firmware. It has been downloaded to both the 1gig Kenginston card that came with Red and a Red 8 gig CF card (properly formatted). My computer shows the builds installed on the cards. But I cannot get my Red to read the upgrade. I first used the 1 gig, kept the computer off 10+ seconds as called for, re-boot and nothing. Ditto on the 8 gig. I put them both in at the same time--nothing. I've tried this numerous times: nothing. Camera works fine, records fine. (this is my first upgrade attempt) Red says there is a four hour delay in response. Since I need to be out much of the day, I probably won't be around when they respond. I would really appreciate any suggestions any of you have.

Thanks to all

You can also access "Update SW" from the menu at System > Setup > Maintenance > Update SW. The full upgrde procedure can be found around page 93 of your manual (depending on the version, I guess), but Appendix A is dedicated solely to the procedure...

Kevin and Kyle: Thanks for responding. Yes, I've been following the instructions in the Appendex.

Kevn, just the update file, not the whole folder. I'll try the whole folder next

thanks for your help

You should be dragging only the "UPGRADE" folder onto your media. I know I'm just echoing what's in the manual, but I know how many times I've been in a hurry and misread something seemingly trivial, so I figured it could bear repeating here.

Can this can be done with a USB stick drive as well as the cards? Maybe that's an option for you?

That was it. All now fine and Build 20+ is installed. Thanks so much to both of you.
