Hi, it's one of my first post, but i'm a usual reader.
I need some helps! I need to buy a digital meter, i would like to use both for photo and video, I'm intrested in buying the sekonic l758, but I don't know if I must take the cine version or the dr, ( I use pocket wizard for my flash)
Someone can help me? thanks in advice !

p.s I know that I have to put my surname, but my profile says that I can't! don't know why...

The only difference between the DR and the cine is more shutter angle settings vs shutter speed settings. The DR also has a few key shutter angle settings. For digital cams, shutter angle is not so important unless you want to learn the methodology, or use a video camera with a mechanical shutter. Definitely important if plan to shoot motion picture film cameras though.

The Cine meter also reads in candles or Lux, both incident and spot.

The DR doesn't do that.

As film and sensor speeds climb upwards you need finer and finer adjustment.

Look at working at 250 ISO (Red One Mysterium) vs 1600 ISO (RED One Mysterium X & future cameras)

If I want to shoot at a key of t/2.8, I need 40 candles for the R1 and 6 candles for the R1MX.

In that situation the DR will read f/2.4 5 if you have a half stop underexposure on either camera. So... how much light do you need?

In that same situation, the candle meter will read 30 candles for the R1 and 4.5 candles for the R1MX.

Now you know what to do fairly precisely.

Lighting is going to become a much more subtle art in coming years, and we will need more precise tools.

I thought the DR directly read out footcandles/lux values too?

Agree completely with the need for more refined and sensitive tools, my old Sekonic L398 is useless at such low light levels.
