  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"Help me make YOU a part of my Dream"

Rape is a part of life, women around the world die every single day, my Film is just a story, with a series of messages about such a violent act against humanity.

By visually portraying the act of rape one is traumatizing the viewer and not helping in fighting it but promoting it, by desensitization of audience. Regardless of the intent.

Exposure decreases sensitivity. Sensitivity decreased reduces caring. Reduced caring allows adoption.

Violant acts against humanity are not limited to physical realm.

What utter rubbish. Have you read the script? What insight do you have into the production choices being made? Frankly how dare you accuse another filmmaker of promoting rape in a film that has not even been shot yet?

I don't know Ketch at all other than seeing him post on here, but I could list countless examples of rape or sexual assault portrayed in films that have done nothing but highlight the terrible nature of those crimes. I myself shot a reconstruction of a sexual assault of a teenager for a BBC Schools documentary at the end of last year and while it was rather traumatizing to make, I feel happy that we might just have been able to do a tiny tiny bit of good by utterly destroying any myth that there is something good about it.

Perhaps your opinions would be best kept to yourself until such a time as there is actually an end product to judge and have an opinion about...

Guys can we stop. How about we wait and see how ketch makes the movie. I wont make a final opinion on anything before I see the final product, even if I have seen the script.
Now this thread was for asking for help.

You seem to have trouble recalling that you just wrote

It just seems that way, Ben. I know exactly what I wrote. Your attempt of twisting it, deliberate or not, will not work.

There is no Ketch there addresed nor there is addresing of his work directly, but concepts which are well known.
Failing to understand them does not negate their existence nor should it prevent them from being brought to attention.

If preventing acts of violence is a goal, that is.
Since mind is the most violated victim these days. And mind is where the violence starts.

Okay mate well while my 'failure to understand' as you put it centres around the question of why, if it was not aimed at Ketch and his film did you even bring that subject up in this thread, I'm happy to give you the benefit of the doubt and accept you had a lovely and altruistic reason for posting what you posted.

That said, you should probably be made aware that to the majority of people that read it, it will have sounded rude, ignorant and completely uncalled for in a thread which is otherwise so positive.

And now I'll stop derailing the thread so it can get back to the interesting stuff. :)

Thank you, Ben.

Such a sensitive topic easy to misinterpret.

Sounds cool. If you need help in LA for the Gala event, let me know.

Thanks Adriaan!

Ketch,

Karen and I have to support you on this! First, that you have to defend yourself, is very unfortunate! Some people are not looking with their eyes! So, hugs and support first!

Second, we are here if and when you need anything!

BEST, Kennan & Karen Ward

Thanks Kennan! Unfortunately it seems that some people just can't help themselves from popping on others's dreams, fortunately this are always the very same very few newbies users.

Of course I completely disagreed with having had both a love one die after rape, and the reasons of having chosen to make this film as my first instead of PERSEVERANCE, go far beyond what you could comprehend at this time, so I just simply respond to you by saying that till you have seen the film you simply have absolutely no grounds to form any opinions at all, and you simply just voiced an opinion about something that you know so very little about.

Ben, I thank you for your support, either way we each have the right to voice our opinions, even if and when they are completely unfounded and most prematurely given.

Indeed it is Ash, and I appreciate your edit, I wish nothing else then to make friends and share my adventures, miss adventures, dreams, and how I am getting there with this community while also making new friends all over the world thanks to this great forum, so I thank you again for your edit, and I did the same here, and I hope you will see soon what I am made of and how I portray my stories in this sensitive subject to which I am deeply enchained in.

Of course I completely disagreed with having had both a love one die after rape, and having been raped my self, and the reasons of having chosen to make this film as my first instead of PERSEVERANCE, go far beyond what you could comprehend at this time,

Very sorry to hear about your pain.

So...you passed through traumas, and based on that you disagree with the known notions of highly damaging effect of traumatization and desensitization, fully convinced that your goal can be met exclusively by portraying the scenes of rape which you want to prevent from happening.

And your argument for the type of approach to this story (not the story itself but the way of telling it) is being victimized yourself and having reasons beyond other's comprehension.

Understood.

You have my empathy.

so I just simply respond to you by saying that till you have seen the film you simply have absolutely no grounds to form any opinions at all, and you simply just voiced an opinion about something that you know so very little about.

In case it was not perceivable enough through the impersonal formulation used and four notions presented to help grasping the main one, that post was not making or passing judgement about your movie (there isn't one in existence at the moment even if someone would intend to), but addressing things your reasoning continuously shows are being toyed with.

There is really no easy way of saying this and getting it through in these circumstances, with the risk of misinterpretations, but this is not something that should be left unsaid.

If the highly damaging effect, well known for quite a while and suggested for consideration, is to be avoided, going through this after the movie is finished makes very little sense.

You may perceive this as "spreading awareness about acts of violence beyond one's current comprehension".

Also, that post was not comprised of opinions, but it is understandable why it may be easier or feel better perceiving or suggesting it was.

I suggest moving on with the thread.

Ketch,

I seem a little late to the party but if needed, I would love to help out on your film. With the hand full of times we have met and had the opportunity to chat, and the overwhelming support of the RedUser community, how could I not want to help!

Okay,

I just got a very interesting e-mail, I won't post the sender nor the direct contents of it, but I fill the need to share my take on the reply right here, so that will answer some questions for others before they actually even need to make them, and the main question was:

"Why am I willing to go back to the USA to make my first Movie when I left the USA to move back to Italy in order to make this movie, and had given up many opportunities in the USA and elsewhere just to be so stubborn and wanting to come back to Italy to do it?"

Well, the answer would actually be a very complex one, first I had to move back to Italy for a series of reasons, some were open for dispute, while other were absolutely not!

I came back to Italy because of my health issues, which as many of you know are quite severe.

I came back to Italy because one of my beloved ones had fallen in to Alcoholism and my sister had told me over and over that I would have been the only one to bring this beloved one out of it.

I came back to Italy because the sister that had risked all for me given me one of her kidneys and saving my life, needed me desperately.

I came back to Italy because I had a good amount of state of the Art equipment, and I was to be the first in Italy with this equipment which I was let to believe would have yielded me a many great and well paid jobs in the industry in both 2D and 3D.

I came back to Italy because I tough that I would had a better chance to make my first movie here with much lesser of a budget, and I also would have pretty much loved that my first movie was made in my own country.

Oh, and lastly, as many also know I came back to Italy because I had a Megaproject in the works.

This are the reasons why I came back to Italy.

But now two years later everything has changed, lets not discuss each element individually, no need for that, other then the fact that absolutely NOTHING went the way it was supposed to, and I am starting from ZERO again!!

However, I am actually doing good enough health wise to afford any traveling and any amount of hours of work per day per extended periods no problem, and for this I can afford to go any were in the world to do this movie, but most importantly I have come to the conclusion that no matter how much I love my country and wish to make this project here, it will be actually crippling it not helping it, and that I can not allow to happen. Fact is that the incredible amount of pledged support is coming in HUGE part form the USA, and this for the good of the project I must take in consideration, when i am to do a Film with little to no capital, and expecting a successful Crowd-Funding campaign to further help, and then there is Post, and Distribution which again puts the USA first on my list.

For this I decided what I have decided and will move full force ahed with it knowing in my heart that I have just made the best decision I could have made for the good of my Movie, and all that I hope, is that I'll continue to have your support now more then never!!

Ketch, maybe I missed it, but where does this put you with the short film? Is that still going to be made in Italy? I can't remember or seem to find the dates that you had provided on shooting for the short.
