  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"Help me make YOU a part of my Dream"

Com'on Jarred, Please Jim

you're being very quite. No one has done so much for this community as Ketch has done. In the process it made quite a few people fall in love with RED - and you sell quite a few cameras. Its time for payback, give some love to our favourite Italian, a true RED EVANGELIST.

Bob, I thank you for the kind words of support, what I have done and continue to do for this community is a true pleasure, as I consider it the finest community on the net, and for this I have just about abandoned all others, also since I know many of my fellow Reduser in person, and of course know Jim, Jarred and many of the RED Team, I also consider this my home and as family, literally!

Now as far as wishing for help to come directly from Jim and Jarred, I think this is a very hard call, as if they were to help me then a million more would come asking the same, and they are already very busy Bees as it is, and I know that if I was to shoot in LA, they would do all that they can to help out at RSH, and for that I am glad no matter if I can or not make use of the Studios.

Besides, in all honesty I would greatly prefer their help via intros in pushing forward the film during production and in its distribution stage which they have already done thanks to ODEMAX. Other then that, I think that once I'll have a more solid base and something to show in the way of the first Mini-trailers and a possible shot, then every one here including them will have a better idea of what is ROAB really about and what any one can do for the film.

Ketch,

I enjoy crazy adventures. Keep me posted, would love to help out.

Thanks Chris!

Ketch, my friend. Thank you for the kind email....

I'm here to help if you need me!

You have my sword! And my bow! And my axe! ;)

toc, toc, RED, are you hearing? Ketch needs help, its giveback time.

Ketch, they really should treat with a special eye, you are not just one of the many. You've been a living advertisement for RED for Years, and it would be disgraceful if they don't show some gratitude!

Bob

Bob, I thank you again for your support and very kind words!

As far as RED helping in this project, I content with having such a great platform from which to launch it, which is Reduser, and if and when RED might fill they do wish to do so, might well not be publicly but privately.

Either way, I can't ask RED for anything, as they already have given so much, and I am very content, and in fact if wasn't for RED I might not be were I am, in the making of my first Movie, so I have much more to be thankful for then they would.

sounds awesome, good luck ketch! love the title! also, the idea of an extensive BTS is BRILLIANT! I always wanted to watch that kind of making of instead of the usual "director praises actors - actors praise the director" borefest!

coming from switzerland I'd be very close to modena and would love to help out! but I'm afraid that since I own a small company of just three idealistic freaks, I'm more of a generalist and my guess is you're looking for specialists....

I agree that ODEMAX is a promising venue for filmmakers, and hopefully will be part of a viable business for producers. This is a great commitment on their part to all emerging filmmakers. Giving money to a production is a touchy subject and highly unlikely. Jim is a businessman, and crowd sourcing bypasses the business side of filmmaking with very little chance recouping investments.

Will be interesting to see how Odemax develops, and the reaction from the industry. ITunes from what I can gather serves iTunes and not the creator.

edit: It will be interesting to see what Ketch does with this, hopefully he'll inject some of that European flare that was so great in European Cinema during the 70's and missing from a lot of indie filmmaking these days. Take risks Ketch!

Thanks Sandro!

I fill the same way as you do, I many times enjoy more the BTS then the actual film, while others I enjoy the film so much I crave for BTS material that usually isn't there or is there in such modest quantity and really not that related to the actual term of what BTS stands for.

Well... Prepare for something truly uniquely different form what has ever been presented before!

I kid you not, that any one watching all 100+ Hours of Video material and the thousands of pictures from the Making of "The RED dress" that they will literally know more then some students know after an entire Film School year!!

I'l be detailed in my explanations and I will make sure that every one involved will be too, in explaining what they are doing and why and with what and why, each piece of gear, each tool, will be reviewed on spot and explained properly so that even some one that has never used one before can now do so with a start of some knowledge to it, then with experience trial en d error will come the results.

This Film will be an adventure for all... Involved or not, present or not, this I promise!

I agree Michael.

Adding on...

To be clear that the Corporate Sponsorships are not a part of the Crowd-Funidng, and are not in for the money the film could or could not make, but rater sponsor the project for the potential advertisement and therefor exposure to their product and company in the process.

What they sponsor the project with and its value depends on whom the company is and what they can afford to do in their current economic status and most importantly what makes sense for them to do for their company.

I take it the BTS crew would have to be fairly large and also has to be able to ask the right questions while documenting what people do (not everybody is a born tutor). I suppose I could do that.

Or I could design the poster (after all, graphic design is what I've actually studied, back in the days, hehe).

Yes the BTS crew will e self contained Eco-shooting team of their own, which will need to have experience in Editing as well as Social media friendly, their responsibility will be to keep up with the me mainly, since this is not only my most long awaited First Feature but could also be the last, and I sure want to have it as documented as possible, while teaching all that I can, in ways that is never possible in any of the Workshops I have given, here with over one month of shooting and all kind of scenarios taking place real time, there will be simply an insane amount of material to give, that would simply be absolutely impossible unless done in literally 3 months of workshops together, or a 1 year Film School, and even then I doubt very much they'll get this much info strait at the source, then of course there will be also all the material from the Cast and Crew, and finally form the Post production facility and finally the distribution phase.

I'll definitely welcome your offer for anything that you know you can do, and see what happens at the time of putting the team together.

As for the Poster I surely welcome that offer, even so I already have two other designers working on it, and one about to start, yet because of the particularity of what I want of it, I will refuse on one's offer to do it till I have what I fill is exactly what is to reflect my view of how the Poster should be.

So please Sandro if serious about wanting to give a shot to the Poster, do email me, and I'll forward you the guidelines of what I am looking to have in the poster.

Hi Ketch

Great lover of what you're doing and the way you always share with the community, so I thought I'd just post something as a bit of a curve ball for you :)

Now, I started in the late Eighties as a Director/Designer (weird combo - but it worked) - I can always discuss my history via PM, but not I'm really interested in this being about me... as I really want to offer another angle/approach for you :)

Your poster brief was so specific that it felt constraining. whilst I know you have a vision and want to see all parts through (I am exactly the same with projects, so its not a sin!)... I just feel that, with this project, you might consider a less 'literal' approach. So, rather than representational (real characters and photo work etc), this idea goes for a more elegant and abstract notion... it is also (oddly) discomforting... as the angles and construction are there to create a feeling of unease.

Your current Facebook logo is too 'Mills & Boon'... it reminds me of a 1980's Danielle Steele logo treatment... (but that might be what you want?!). So, the way I've approached this is to go for a more complex typographic/art solution... one that does not rely on any images. Instead, the power is in the design and the way the elements are placed.

I've created a concept - within that, many ideas can be used... for example, not having read the script (and only by reading your posts), I've chosen a set of words that 'might' be appropriate. These 'power' words could be changed for anything... but represent a sort of abstract 'meaning' cloud... of key words that the script conveys (or words that are important to the female lead and her journey). Really, it's all about the poster creating a feeling - and that feeling being the emotion you want to portray... with strong words such as Rape and Beauty in the title, I do feel that a sophisticated typographic solution will be more appropriate than a heavily image based one (unless you want the Argento feel to a poster)... and then it's taking steps into a different genre.

The 'positive' words are reinforced by being all caps... negative words are all lower case... and the 'key' word (ie the single word that adds drama and 'intent') is lower case and red - this could be anything, but I've gone for an obvious one... this may not be in keeping with the script - as 'revenge' could be 'retribution' or 'love' or any other word... but the choice I've made illustrates how the idea can work. The word cloud is disconnected and broken... with slight feeling of randomness - this represents 'her' - and can be any set of words or phrases. Obviously, the black 'vertical' is an abstract knife. Within that, we have the single word mentioned above... the black horizontal adds to the feeling of unease in the framing... and helps focus the attention on the single word. 'revenge'.

In terms of the logo, avoiding using red in the font is helpful and a little less obvious... 'Beauty' being in black text separates the lead character 'element' away from the word 'rape'. Beauty is also 'inside' the red circle - which is an abstraction for blood... without it being literal (ie dripping blood etc) - so the circle denotes both the 'act' and the notion that the Beauty is involved - but is 'escaping' or moving on, as only the 'b' sits within the red circle. We also have the knife tip intersecting the 'of' within the logo - this is an interesting one, as the black tip can sit under or over the 'o'... and the visual meaning/metaphor is a little different.

I put your name in there as it needs to look official - and without the Rossi bit, it's not the same ;)

I have a number of variants, but don't see the point cluttering your thread with them, as they're all layer based changes... for now, just the two primary types are here!

Anyway, feel free to throw away or use - really, I put it together to be provocative and hint at other directions.... and, rather than just talk about stuff as people often do, I thought I'd make a quick mock up (as I'm doing some cloth simulation in the background for a CGI job and this came as a welcome change of pace!).

Cheers!

Thanks Andy!

I do have a clear idea of what I want from the poster, and my words in the description give more then will actually be seen, or in the way it will be seen, and of course leaves for interpretation of the viewer, were the actual conceptual designed from the pictures will be given a clearer idea of what I see, yet that too will be left to the interpretation of the individual viewer.

As for the facebook logo, the same i placed in the initial post here, is just a simple text I did quickly in Photoshop, so that while I actually do like this way, it is ultimately also to be seen on the finished poster before I'll accept it as the final text design.

Now... As far as your suggestion, again, while my idea for the poster design is pretty much set on a model to what I have specified above, I do absolutely LOVE your idea about adding the strongest Positive and Negatives of the film, and also agree with the idea of the upper case for good and lower case for bad, and for this contribution I am very grateful, and I will most definitely make it an integration of the final poster... ;)

Thank YOU!!

No problem Ketch :) Glad there was something that helped/added to what you already have in mind.

Ketch you have been a brother to many of us here. Please let me know when your kickstarter starts I will get my partners to all chip in. You have come a long way through thick and thin marching as one of our own leaders of the revolution. We are with you

If you haven't already - start your BTS now. The financing and support to get this rolling will be very interesting and a valuable aspect to the BTS!!! Your film project has begun.

Good luck!
