Hi Jacek-
What's the price on your new mount?
If I have Nikon mount lenses with manual iris (ZF.2s) does you're geared iris ring still control it. Do I have the choice to switch back and forth?
The mount looks great by the way.
Thanks,

-Harry

I'm convinced now - Will order one soo. Only read good reviews about the optitek here. Everyone said its solid and I like the positiv lock. Reassures more. Actually I had a very similar setup in mind to the pic with the red brick. Thats my route till can get the PL. Would like to know average price as well please..

Harry, I use ZFs with the ProLock and yes, it controls the iris. You can also continue to use the manual iris control on the lens. Works great and is truly no compromise. Highly recommend it!

Fantastic. Thanks Jim. If Jacek doesn't get a chance to answer, anyone know what these cost?
Thanks,

:thumbup:Thank you Jim,
Nothing more satisfying than a happy customer...
Yes for manual iris lenses you have a choice of control- the mount or the lens.

I think it's $995 but contact Jacek. I have one and it works great.

I may be mistaken about this but I actually think that the Optitek is the ONLY nikon mount actually approved by Red at this time though I may be mistaken about this. The situation with the cinemodz one has always been a bit unclear. Can someone clarify? I just bought the optitek as my experience with the previous mount for the Red One was very good. The positive locking is the clincher - the lenses simply do not move when you are using a follow focus. Also the ability to use G lenses is a real bonus.

I spoke to him and it's approved by RED... also the cost is $995.00

I second all the positive reports on Jacek's mount. Solid, flawless. Worth every dollar.

I do not second the positive reports...

We purchased the Optitek prolock for the Epic a few months back. Recently we started having issues with the mount (The connection wasn't stable, and the iris adjustment wouldn't lock in place properly causing the aperture to change on its own under the presser of the iris pin in the lens)

Called Jacek and he told me that 'early' versions of the mount were shipped with the wrong type of lube, and that it needed to be sent in. Thankfully he said it was a warranty issue and we wouldn't be charged. So we arranged a window where we could send in our mount between shoots and have it overnighted back to us.

This is where things went south. I'm not going to get into the details here, but lets just say his customer service is anything but acceptable. From being told to 'Chill' in email, to being told that I'm being unprofessional in asking why he didn't follow through with our agreement, on top of several unanswered phone calls and emails, I wont be a returning customer.

I'm sorry you feel that way Aaron,
I really am.
I turned it around the same day with update and customization to make sure you never have this problem again. I think there is something odd about your lens BTW (the iris was fine it should not creep) so I just customized the mount.
I try to fight for every customer I really do.
Some battles I just can't win, I'm sorry....

I have a set of Zeiss ZF lenses -- if I already have an AL EF Scarlet coming, is there any advantage to getting a Nikon mount for it vs. getting Leitax conversion adapters? I'm mainly concerned about flange focal distance.

I've got to say that if the OptiTek Nikon for Scarlet mount is as nice as the new OptiTek Nikon for Sony F3 adaptor, it is definitely the way to go. I just got mine last week and I could not be happier. Thanks for all of the personalized service Jacek.

Another vote of support for Jacek. He's not always the fastest to ship/respond - but heck, neither is RED, and he's (as far as I can tell!?) only one guy!

The mount is great. We have them for both our R1 and Epic.
