Ok, this is my first time editing Red footage (I'm on a MacBook Pro 2.16 Processor + 3 gigs RAM) I have Final Cut Studio 2 (updated to Final

Cut 6.0.3)

I installed the Red code plugin and the Log and Transfer plugin (and Red Cine). My problem is when I try to capture in my R3D red files in the

Log and Transfer tool NOTHING HAPPENS!!!! What am I doing wrong??? I can import the footage (well most of it) just using the import option

from the file menu, but then I do this I have 3 different files for each shot and they're named like this: B001_C001_81215_H,

B001_C001_81215_M, B001_C001_81215_P

all the files have this H,M,and P versions which one do I use?? Also I have some footage that I can't import (the last 8 cards!) I can get them

into final cut through the import option after I transcode them using Red Cine... BUT I can't seem to get the correct aspect ratio as the first 21

cards I was able to import! I right clicked on the footage in Final Cut and went to the Item Properties and found out the aspect ratio is 1024 X

512 of the first cards I was able to import, but when I set up the same aspect ratio in Red Cine in the project settings and the output settings it'

not the same when I import back to Final Cut!! Is there any way I can import all the footage in to Red Cine at once, I mean all 30 cards of

footage, and just let it cook overnight so that all my footage is the same? How do I make sure it's not one big Quicktime file named Redmag as

well? Or is there a right was to use the Log and Transfer tool that I'm not doing? PLEASE any suggestions or help would be extremely

appreciated! I'm using Leopard 10.5.3 BTW

Thanks

Ryan

In the FCP Log and Transfer tool you don't load the proxies, you just point the tool to the directory containing the .R3D file and it will find and load the .R3D.

1. As above -just navigate to the top level folder.

2. Log and transfer halves the resolution on imput.

3. Sounds like you have mixed format sizes (ask your camera guys). If you bring in 2k, 3k and 4k via log and transfer they will have different sizes.

4. To get everything in at one size either:

a. Process the source r3d's through Redcine as 720, 1080 etc setting all clips to fit height/width etc.

b. Batch compress your proxies through compressor / droplet. You can log and transfer one set of clips (of which you have the majority size) and then redcine/compressor processor any others that are a different size - may prove quicker.

5. Read the FAQs here and on red.com...
