Hi folks, I was wondering if I could ask your help on the following matter:

When I purchased my Scarlet Package, Ia was informed that the 5'' Touch Screen monitor didn`t come with any cable, so I purchased the 7'' LCD/EVF Cable separately (I was afraid a bigger cable would get to much in the way some times)

When it got here (much before anything else) I opened it`s packing to check if avery thing was alright.

Yesterday I received the Touch Screen Monitor (even tough my Scarlet seems to be a long way from here) And for my surprise it came with an 12" LCD/EVF Cable. (Even though I was informed otherwise)

Now I have one extra cable that I don`t really need, in wich I spent U$ 220,00 (not exactly cheap).

My question is:

Does any one knows if there was a time when the 5'' Touch Screen Monitor didn`t really come with any cable, and somehow, some day, RED decided to ship it with this extra cable as a gift? Does anybody did not get the Cable with the monitor?

Should I try to return the one I bought (even though it`s packing is now open)?

I figure I could exchange for a longer one for when needed (and pay the price diference, of course)

Thanks in advance.

Consider yourself fortunate- my Scarlet shipped with the 7" cable, which I find so short as to be nearly useless.

It's pretty unlikely RED will give you credit for a "trade-up" on the cable, but it is always good to have a backup in case of emergency. If you would have bought a 12" cable to begin with, you'd be in better shape.

I do hope you're wrong. I would hope the folks whom you just gave $15K would give you a credit for a cable upgrade.

However, it's true it's a great idea to have back ups.

you got a 12'' cable with your screen? WTF? I can't stand the tiny one that came with mine... what's the deal RED?

But I agree... you should keep both so you have an extra.

Consider yourself lucky! The small cable is so limited its basically useless.. Even as a backup cable I'd hate to have to re-arange my rig to accommodate a cable.. If I were you i would try your best to return it and gt a longer one.. Mine came with the 7" and I wish I returned it.

Yep - I think the 7" is the norm that's what I received). If you got a 12" you are quite lucky.

I think he meant this: http://www.red.com/store/displays/product/red-touch-50-lcd

It says it is suposed to come with the 12''

But i'm sure as hell that this was note listed the day I bought my Scarlet.

The thing is that I spent all my money on the camera, and bought only what I tought was necessary. I could have used this money to buy an extra batery fo exemple.

If I was told that the monito came with a cable (any cable), and not other wise, I would'nt have bought the cable I bought.

It seens that everybody received a a cable with the monitor (even if it is just the 7''). So why was I told that I had to buy it sepratley?

Just for clarification: the RED store lists the 12" cable as coming with the 5" Pro LCD when it is purchased individually. However, if you look at the Scarlet Package, it includes the Pro LCD but lists it as coming with the 7" cable. Pretty subtle and a little weird, IMO.

ah the subtle truth. s'funny (not haha) but not only is the 7 a useless length but it also plugs in both ends at a less than optimum angle. quick ..wheres my credit card.. http://www.red.com/store/cables/product/lcdevf-cable-straight-to-straight-18

But them why did I get the 12'' with mine? Since I ordered the Scarlet Package? Also, this was not at all listed at least before November 8th (the day I bought it) that is why I specifically asked this to the sales rep and he confirmed to me that no cable was included, that is why I purchased the 7'' Cable (Didn`t imagine it would be that short...).

Thanks for your help guys!

Email me if yo want to swap, I have an extra longer EVF cable.

I ordered my 5.0" Touch LCD separate (not a Scarlet package...)

Will be emailing my bomb squad rep on Monday for a swap, cause that's kind of BS honestly. Not happy with the tiny useless short cable, especially if I was supposed to get a 12" cable.

I think I got the 7" with my package. Can anyone help me confirm. (hold smart alecs) the total length if you include the reinforced rubber endings and metal connectors is exactly seven inches. But there's exactly five inches of "black cable" if you include the two inches that have the rubber reinforcing.

Fellow REDuser Brad Allen up the road got a 12" with his. I was very envious. My cable is very neat. If you ONLY wanted your Touch directly on top it would be perfect. Otherwise it's very limiting and doesn;t fit teh modular eco system at all. If I have the five, appreciate if someone can confirm for me, as the seven, or bigger, would definitely be my preference.

Yep , I got the minuscule 7 inch version with my Scarlet pack. Looked at it , saw the liabilities with such a short length & promptly ordered a longer one. $260 bucks later. I can only assume most of the cost is in the connectors themselves , must be hand wound by virgins or Wall Street hedge fund managers. Anyway it would have cost only another couple of bucks to give another 8 inches more cable & a more viable length.

The 7inch version in my opinion is limiting, I guess some would could call this shrewd "up selling".

Brilliant. Yeah, I ordered the 18'' cable moments after receiving my 7'' with the LCD and had it overnighted haha.
