I think my edls have become corrupt. When i output an EDL for instance mmonkey will not see it because the timecode seems to be off. I'm not sure what's going on here. Here is an example of my edls. Can anyone please help me, or tell me how to reset something in FCP. many thanks.

the problem seems to be rooted in where my audio is situated on the time line, if i shift some of it down, even one clip, the edl is fine??

You have comments that are missing an * in front of them. e.g.

FINAL CUT PRO REEL: A125_C035_1103FB REPLACED BY: A125C035

Should be

* FINAL CUT PRO REEL: A125_C035_1103FB REPLACED BY: A125C035

Some software will chock if the * is missing. Same goes for audio. I would not include the audio in the EDL.

will be interesting which settings you are using in fcp when exporting the edl.
in my opinion there is something other going on in your edl.
the V is missing after the reel id, that monkey recognises, that it is a video track.
the replaced argument seems fine without the star. I had the problem that the "K" was
false interpreted by monkey, that represents a second video track over the actual clip i think. but monkeys are on it.... :)
without the Ks it is running fine....

thats my 2 cents to this....

rainer

Maybe the solution is to copy the timeline and delete the audio before making the edl... the reel substitution is something I haven't seen from FCP. The settings I use are:

CMX 3600
Master Audio Merged
Generic Edits
No Notes

Your reels should look like:

001 A125C035 C 18:16:44:11 18:16:54:24 01:00:00:00 01:00:10:13

Does that work?

thanks everybody, i am getting by just at the momentm but need to find a long term solution to the problem, All your help is much appreciated, any other thoughts ideas are welcome.

This is happening to me as well. Here is what's happening. I have no idea why, everything was fine, I've been putting together Dailies and exporting EDL's twice a day and it's been great. now all the sudden when we export EDL's we get this.

0001 001 V C 15:04:59:15 15:07:36:11 00:00:00:00 00:02:36:20
FINAL CUT PRO REEL: B102_C001_001 REPLACED BY: B102C001
** REEL REPLACEMENT: 001 IS USED TO REPRESENT: B102C001.

What the hell could possibly be the reason for this crap? Why would FCP ever assume that you want 001 to represent B102C001???

Effin' B.S.

Sorry i'm pissed off.

Monkey Update

Monkey Update

Hi All,

This has caused people enough problems that I'm currently working on bringing in reel names from either the FCP "Replaced By" comments or the From/To/Key clip name comments in cases where the reel id specified is not in standard Red format.

I'm hoping to have this finished by the end of next week. I'll let you know as soon as I have a preliminary version available that you can try.

I also have an alpha version available if you're interested (check my signature).
Major changes include the first cut of Avid Filmscribe import and fixes for Time Remap in FCP XML. If you're an Avid user then please give the Filmscribe import a try and let me know how it goes :) It'd be great to get some feedback.

I have just uploaded a new alpha version (2.028). Download link on my signature.
This will read from/to/key clips (the issue mentioned above with key clips should be addressed as well. Feel free to download & give it a try & please let me know if you run into any problems.

Thanks.
