FAVOR! Could some black shade their dragon for me at 70degrees 59.94 Base and 1/120 shutter then after the balance film 2 secs of footage with the lens cap on of total black a post the .r3d? I want to see if the dancing noise i'm getting off my calibrations are similar to others dragons out there.

Also please do it with the current release build 5.1.51

Thanks,

I didn't use those settings but I'm getting some serious red noise mosquitoes in the shadows. Is this common? Does Red plan on releasing a more color neutral calibration?

Jacob, I read this and then kept an eye out on my own shoots when I increased shutter speed and you're right, noise seems to increase pretty significantly with higher shutter speeds. Really wondering why this is happening and if Red is working on it (or if its one of the new olpf issues).

this keeps scaring me about the Dragons...I have a buddy in Atlanta (where i live and he says the noise is unbearable). I am def waiting on my dragon upgrade until they fix all the bugs for sure!!!

Um, yeah. That's kind of crazy. I just shot a chart at 2000ISO and the grain was lovely and the color unbelievably true.

Here's a screen grab of the noise in the above test.

Just 1728.8 and 1 FPS to compare noise floor to other shutter speeds.

It would be good for Jacob to upload a clip to see what he is talking about.

when you say shot at 2000iso, do you means shot metered and rated at 2000iso? I've found that anything shot metered and rated at 2000 ISO is to textured for my taste.

So compression is about 11:1 or higher, yeah?

I cant test right now, but I can't see, (from this thread) what it looks like, and mark, you are saying on your cam it's ok?

The link for the 6k test is in my original post.

Compression 13:1 at full 6k.

How does it look? Like this when you jack it up 8 stops:

I hope he posts a comparable so we can see what he's talking about. You can see some very faint green banding in the noise if push it up enough - though it moves around, so you can't see it in motion.

Looking at the R3D that looks about right, at 320 ISO it's barely visible, but cranked to 2000 is it looks the the sensor pattern.

This is new OLPF correct? Just confirming.

Red is working on this they said! I'm holding tight until they send a new update! I is super unbearable but hopefully we'll see a fix soon. I was promised one last week but i know it takes time so lets wait and see what red spits out when they can.

What is super unbearable?

So Jacob,

just confirming. Your saying that the clip Marc posted is unbearable and your camera is the same?

To to me that is just regular cap noise, about the same as what I see at just about any shutter angle.
