Log inside the NLE system

Log inside the NLE system

There are various ways, a good:yesnod: way would be to Log scene and takes from the transcoded files for the editor inside the NLE system that he will be cutting on. Then you can share and deliver: a project, a bin or xml to post with the transcoded files and R3D masters.

Do yourself a favor and don't rename the files. If you want to do scene / take metadata, RCX has some functionality built in. If that doesn't work for your particular workflow, inputting it in the editorial software (as mentioned above) is the way to go. XML for FCP & PPCS5-6 work quite nicely. ALE for AVID.

I agree with Michael: don't rename the files. Just make sure all the metadata is correct and the pathnames from the editing program to the files are correct. Filenames do not matter in the grand scheme of things. And you can create havoc if the filenames are recreated after editing has already started (for sound and picture).

Always talk to the editor and/or post supervisor before worrying about stuff like this.
