Hello everyone,

I need help please !!!
I worked on a commercial last week in Beijing (China) with a rented Red One MX and today I realise some of the files are corrupted.
It seems that only a few frames from time to time are bad.
Thing is that it makes my files very hard to work with.
QT proxies turn green as soon as the bad frame is read even if the rest of the footage is ok.
Same in Redcine X that won't export after one bad frame even if the rest of the footage is ok.

Does anyone here had to deal with that kind of issue ?
What is the best solution so that I don't have to pull my hair out to much ?

Thanks

Unfortunately, it is almost certain a transfer issue, so if you don't have your original media anymore than there i nothing else to do than cut around or fix the frames in post.... Basically it is more likely to happen with CF cards, especially when transferred in a FW800 card reader. Either pins go bad (bent) or CF card readers die . Happened to me a couple of times, I keep my CF cards with original material till everything is checked by a posthouse. Only Red Rocket will detect broken frames while transferring, other transfer methods won't.

Try to run the original media , if you have it, through red undead. It may recover enough.
Alternatively, you might be able render around the bad parts by setting in/out point or
via redline to render each frame separately. In some cases, rendering at a lower quality
resolution might work also.

Thank you Deanan I'll try that and i'll let you know what happens.
By the way, it's great to get answer from Red team and Red users.
I feel less alone :001_smile:

Had it myself when DIT in two years ago. CF card reader overheats and got some corrupt frames. Look for the corrupt frame and render around, and try to rebuild the missing frame in AE or similar. Best of Luck. Not a nice feeling when you see these glitches.

In post with Smoke & Lustre, you can pass though the drops... Also with Scratch 5 (not 6 apparently).
In RCX, with a Red Rocket, after a bad frame, the frames after become with false colors...
Another solution is to export in TIFF, and removing the bad frames...
