Hi everyone,
I’m building a custom breakout cable for the 9-pin LEMO EXT port on the RED KOMODO-X, and I’d really appreciate it if someone could help confirm the wiring before I solder anything.
My use case is a virtual production setup using a Mars/Vive camera tracker, and I need the camera to receive both:
Based on the RED documentation and what I’ve found so far, here’s the wiring I’m planning:
Timecode (LTC)
Genlock
Just to confirm — is it safe to share Pin 9 as a common ground for both inputs and is this the correct way to go about it?
Also, one thing that’s confused me:
The RED EXT-to-Timecode Cable (3') that came with my KOMODO-X Starter Pack shows continuity on Pin 3, which (as per the diagram) is for GPO, not Timecode In (which should be Pin 7). Has anyone else tested this? Is it possible this cable is actually for Genlock, or wired differently than expected?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s built a breakout or done similar Genlock+LTC input setups through the EXT port.
Thanks in advance!

- Genlock from a Blackmagic Sync Generator
- LTC Timecode from a Tentacle Sync E
Based on the RED documentation and what I’ve found so far, here’s the wiring I’m planning:
Timecode (LTC)
- Pin 7 → BNC center pin
- Pin 9 → BNC shield (Ground)
Genlock
- Pin 8 → BNC center pin
- Pin 9 → BNC shield (Ground)
Just to confirm — is it safe to share Pin 9 as a common ground for both inputs and is this the correct way to go about it?
