  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Help choosing studio monitors. Genelec, Adams, or Dynaudio?

Which reminds me, I need 3 more A7s to go 5.1, wonder if they'll come down in price.

I've seen new ones reduced from $599 to $480 range on closeout if that helps...

I am waiting for my A7X to arrive...

Unfortunately ( or fortunately if you own them), used Genelec and Adam monitors tend to hold their value well on ebay, and I've considered used monitors for surround speakers...

Barefoots. Genelecs.

True. Well, I am not in a hurry at the moment to go 5.1 because I need another module for my Dangerous Music (monitor controller) to make it 5.1 and I believe it's also like $2k. I'll wait till someone elses project needs it and I can make them pay for it :)

I am kinda torn between which genelec if I do go with them. I am looking for small speakers since my desk space at home is at a premium. Should I go for the 6010's with a sub or just the 8040s? I am a little fearful of putting a sub in since I know that if it's not setup just right I could be over or under compensating for the low end.

I own the 6010's : they're a great value for the price and the space requirements. You can also take them on the road with the optional bag to set up a small recording studio along with a laptop. I'm doing all my audio post work at 24 bits/ 96 kHz and these little speakers are really impressive for the size. But it's a matter of taste...
