Hi,

I'm currently working on a battery that can make me switch the battery on RED Cam without having to turn off the camera.
I bought a Power Tap Cable from Anton Bauer so whenever I want to change the battery, I connect the Power Tap receptacle
to the battery plate while the 4 pin XLR will be connected to a 12V battery.

The problem is...it doesn't work :( We connect the Power Tap cable to the battery plate and the 12V battery, then we took off
the empty battery from the battery plate and the result is the camera is still on. However, it only works until that stage. When
we attached a fully charged battery to the plate, what happened is the camera suddenly turned off.

So I'm thinking that maybe I need some kind of a switcher that can switch the flow of the battery? I don't know, I'm kinda hopeless
now. Can anyone help me, please?

I know that there is Switronix and Action Products hot swap that can easily doing this, but price are too expensive for me and
i am wondering if I can have this as custom-make.

Hopefully you can help me and any thoughts would be very appreciated.

Cheers,
Nanda

Hi Nikolay, thanks very much for your help but I'm afraid that 449,00 EURO is still expensive for me.
I'm still thinking to make a custom-made so I can still use the Power Tap cable since I bought it already.

I have seen good breakout box solutions with the Red that allow a combination of power sources including Lemo and XLR based on a simple switch and fuses. Any professional Audio/Electronics electrician should be able to build it for you. Beyond labor the parts should not cost more than 100 Euro.

I have the Switronix model as well that allows you to hot swap your batteries. Mine is broken, but shouldn't be too hard to fix. I'll sell it for $50 if you're still looking for one.
