We just received our Epic X yesterday. I just put it together with a lens and LCD touchscreen. Plugged in the DSMC AC power adapter. The power button turned red. I pushed the power button like the manual instructed. The light went out, the LCD flashed for a second, the fan started and that was it. The light did not come back on but the fan just surges like it is trying to start.
I left it go for over a minute with no luck. I then held the power button down for about 5 seconds and it shut down and the light went back to the red status.

Help?

1) File a ticket with Red support.
2) Try starting again.
3) Try reinstalling the camera firmware.
4) Try with another monitor (HD-SDI?)

have you tried booting it from another power source? it might narrow down where the problem is.

good luck
Colin

Pretty much sounds like it's starting correctly. Maybe your LCD is not connected. Do you have media? If so try To record something.

Thanks Elrik - no luck. I cannot get it to do anything. It just sits with the fan surging.

Tried to power it with a RED brick and adapter cable. No luck there. The only thing that happens is the fan surges. The LCD power light does not turn orange or green, it just goes out.
I also tried putting 2 different digimags in. Still no luck.

Do I need to hold down the power button when starting it or just push it?

Only pushing.

I have a very similar problem. Just arrived on location and after checking the camera before I left worked fine and now here on location I plugged in the B2 to B1 cable to use the REdbricks and now I only get power if the side handle is on. The back power does not work. No little red power light unless the side handle has a brick in it. Starts to or wants to power up and then after about 3 seconds it stops and goes to the pre power stage with the red light next to the power switch on... I have a ticket in to RED and hope to have an answer soon.
