We've been editing with Adobe for a long time and we have beefy Intel machines. Two even have Rocket X. When our Helium arrived, 8K on Premier proved slow to import and there was a definite lag. Out of desperation we tried Davinci and just love how it performs. No going back. Colour correction too is a dream as I'm sure many of you know. We're now waiting for our Mini Panel.

Just wanted to share. Happy Days.

What system are you running? and what raid solution? What setting in davinci are you getting fluid playback with (decode quality and image scaling?

Yes I'd love a steer in this direction too. I have a full version of DaVinci but would love some quick start settings advice. I am mac based. Wondering weather I need to go down the intel route as Mac won't support external GPU like Nvidia etc

We have Quad i7 Intel 3.6, 32GB Ram, SSD drives internal and Nvidia Titan X. Red Rocket X too so it's not a cheap or slow machine. We are editing off USB 3 HD caddies though which you'd have thought would be ultra slow but running just fine at 1/2 res. We struggled at 1/8 or even 1/16 on Adobe with Mercury enabled or the Rocket X. Just installed the Mini Panel for Resolve too and it's just brilliant. Been in the business 19 years and now I'm fully realising the worth of such great grading software/hardware,
