Is there any way on the EPIC to boost Headphone levels? I'm getting perfect levels for audio but finding it quite hard to monitor properly through headphones.

Also, there is a pretty noticeable latency - I assume that's normal.

What version are you running? The audio setup dialogs have changed lately but you should be able to find the dialog with the headphone level out sliders.

Hi Trent,

I'm on the latest Beta - 3.3.4. I have the Volume Out faders fully up and the headphones I am using are pretty loud swell - SONY HD250s

Dito that, I have always found the audio outputs too low on both my R1 and now Epic-X.

This is a common problem on quite a few cameras (particularly the Canon C300 and C500). My observation is that I don't think camera manufacturers in general provide enough wattage for their headphone amplifiers. Most of them are rated at well under 100mw. I'd like to see them at least three times this, provided the distortion specs are low and they can handle (say) a 200 ohm load. Sound Devices' headphone amplifiers are a model of efficiency and sound quality.

I think audio performance in areas like this is low on the list of priorities for most camera manufacturers. And this is also a problem for some Sony, JVC, and Panasonic cameras as well. Maybe the Meizler Module could throw in a 500mw headphone amp (which would cost about $10 in parts).
