dont know where else to put this..

maybe this is possible? i dont know...

but we need a second HDSDI out that can send out a clean image.. sometimes the DP or AC want info on their HDSDI monitor.. but it would be nice to be able to also send out a clean image to record to external decks, in order to bypass transcoding...

is this ever coming?

Perhaps you could use HDMI for AC monitor and a clean feed to the recorder via SDI.

just more gack on the camera.. would need an hdmi to hdsdi convertor..

seems like a no brainer to just provide a cheap module to give more than 1 hdsdi out and the software to control what goes where..

alexa has 4.. the plus has 8 right?

epic = 1

But I guess Zak needs control over the menus on the feeds. Atomos connect is the smallest converter I know of if you need an HDMI to SDI convertor.

Perhaps something like Wooden's new C-Box? It's an SDI repeater, and provides you with FIVE SDI outs. Fits between camera back and brick.

but still, the camera only has the option to put out info or not..

i cant get a clean feed out and a feed with info... this is the problem

even still.. wireless for editorial proxies is a dangerous game.. you could have an interruption.. hardline is really the only safe bet for what I want to do..

If there was a buspowered HDMI to HDSDI convertor I could make it work for dolly or stick set ups... studio mode basically, and then transcode steadicam/handheld shots through redcine, but dont know of such a box

I agreed, I didn't notice that you are connecting to external recorder.

HUmmm.. Try this

Get the +1 module and cheap small R1 monitor used ones..you get always clean feed via +1 module so you dont need to tweak SDI settings..and you can use +1 module for EVF as a bonus.
Thats what im doing for AC Monitor i use R1 lcd with +1 module

You could always just run a second RED monitor off the camera using the +1 module or PRO I/O for your AC, then reserve the HD-SDI for the recorder. That way you'll have a solid connection if you're not comfortable with running through HDMI.

Or you could just position the REDmote on the AC side of the camera using RED's v-mount adaptor, then run a completely clean signal out of the HD-SDI for both the AC's preferred monitor and the recorder. That way your AC will have access to all the extra info via the REDmote, and it won't interrupt your clean monitor path.

I was just going to suggest the Redmote for exposure feedback.

see i dont think a professional camera should leave it up to the DIT to provide something that should be standard on the camera

thats no what its about.. its about large 17'' monitors.. the dp might want info.. the ac might want info.. scripty might wanna know what roll we are on and see timecode...

so basically nothing works.. alexa works.. but red doesnt have this ability and its weird..

none of what im saying is for exposure or information.. im trying to get a clean sdi feed, whilst having another sdi feed that has the info..

Yeah I understand what you want... I'm just offering a workaround.

Well, if none of those solutions work for you, hopefully the new Meizler will solve your problems once it hits the market.

but again.. i doubt most productions will rent a meizler let alone the rental houses buy one.. especially since the good houses have built their own boxes..it just sucks in order to get a piece of equipment which is pretty much a standard on most cine cameras, you need to buy a 10,000 dollar piece of gear, which may or may not show up one day soon.

i guess this is a rant,
