I 've been using my scarlet on a shoot for the past 5 weeks along with a 5" TVlogic monitor over HDSDI. We've been experiencing issues with the HDSDI signal dropping out on us at random times. Sometimes it drops for no reason, or a slight touch to the cable, and other times moving everything around and changing the cable configuration doesn't effect the image on the monitor. I've used other HDSDI monitors and cables before without this intermediate signal drop issue before.

I do have the fan upgrade and have been doing what others suggest on this forum and running the camera pretty hot, between 60-70C. So far the fan is working great and keeping quiet even on hot days, but our guess is that at that high of a temperature maybe the electronics are having a hard time connecting properly.

The HDSDI port is still really solid on the back of the camera, so if it was broken I would think that the image wouldn't look clean or just not come though at all, but this is just a all or nothing issue. When the video does come though, which we always manage to get to work, it's very clean with no noticeable noise.

We've also experimented with different resolution and refresh rates, with the same results. I'm on the latest release firmware, not beta.

Any ideas?

I would start out by swapping the BNC cable, testing, then the monitor if it persists and test more with the new cable still on and new monitor. If it continues might be worth an RMA... but its easier to swap the other two first obviously before blaming the camera. With any luck its a cheap fix regardless
