NICE. I'm looking forward to this.
It seems you are hinting that it is taking place in camera - that is, generating results directly rather than after post processing. Is this true?
Either way, I'd like the option to get the source frames out to do my own post processing pipeline, please!
And either way, I'd love to see some pretty sick and wide bracketing with fine control.
I started messing with HDR with my D90, and got the D300S because it would allow for 9 not 3 shot brackets.
But I was dismayed to discover that there was a maximum of 1 stop between shots - so I could get at most 8 stops/shots of additional lattitude. And if I wanted a 4 stop boost, I had to shoot 5 shots not just 3 like my D90.
Ideally, bracketing would allow me to shoot a ridiculously wide bracket, graduated as finely or coarsely as I'd like. Why huge range of bracketing? Shooting sunsets/sunrises, where the lighting changes massively.
In addition to that, it'd be nice if you could animate an exposure compensation value, initiated by a GPIB or other trigger. Sun has hit the horizon? Start animating the exposures ever so slowly longer.
Another solution would be a verrrrry slow motor on the iris, but that changes other characteristics of the shot. I like varying exposure times.
I can then animate those in post on the resultant HDR to get the exposure I want nailed to change over the duration of the shot.
