  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HDR From RAW FILE in RedCine

so theoretically, this means that this whole data is in R3D files, and biba combined it as HDR as a way to make most of the data visible. now this means that in theory you could achieve this with curves as well, so would not it be nice if REDcine in future had this HDR type of controlss build in so that you do not have to render the 3 sequencies.

I can wotk with 4K Tiff files in Photomatix . But i can work only with 8 Bit , 16 bit not support.

But you can work with 16 Bit Tiffs in Photomatix! If you are only after that specific, may I say 'painterly' look of tone mapping, you can use Tiffs from RedAlert right away.

This is a single exposure from our Red One with the 18-50mm Red zoom at 18mm, f8, 1/500 sec.

I can not found some ready solution for 2 Cameras , to shoot on same time.
If some body now some solution like stereo ring , please link it .
Thanks.

How do you want to connect two cameras?
Side by side and two separate lenses is no problem.

Side by side and the same common lense is big problem.

Yes one common lens is really problem . I will try side by side , but problem is that it will be stereo photo . I will try because Photomatix can correctobject postion in pictures.
About 16 bit , i get it from RedCIne and Photomatix can not open it , getting unknown error and crashing software.
Also problem is that i have no same lens set , sow i can not check with 3 cameras.
Also today i was trying to understand will Photoshop CS3 make better HDR than Photomatix . I didn't test but as i read functions are same , and Photomatix is better.
nomad - did you finish you're hdr in Photomatix or in Photoshop ?

Photomatix can align mildly shifted images coming from the same position, but can' correct parallax shifts resulting from two cameras in different positions.

Try 16 bit Tiff from RedAlert, it works for me.

Photoshop and Photomatix can both make good HDRs from several exposures, but IMHO Photomatix is doing much better tone mapping. I didn't make HDRs, just went straight from a linear light Tiff into tone mapping.

BTW, I didn't color correct my image at all, but that's normally needed after tone mapping.

Hope this helps,

Uli

Ok i try with Photosop CS 3 , Photomatix is better :) Plus is that i can youse 16 bit Tiff. About 16 bit Tiff from RedAlert , we have same problems with this Tiffs. Sow Photomatix can not work with it. We shoot some new footage , sow i will put it on this days.

Hey Biba,
Is that noise on the wall in your HDR or wallpaper? If it's noise, it would seem to me that you wouldn't be able to bring the image up that much. I'm just trying to gauge if you're actually able to pull that look without horrible noise.

My Own HDR RED Image-

My Own HDR RED Image-

Biba,

I just found this thread, and it looks like we have some similar ideas. :)

Attached is a 1k still frame from a VERY short test that I did on some footage that I shot with the RED as HDR. I have been impressed with the HDR photography that is out there and I have wanted to do the same on the video side of things. I spent this morning testing it out to see if it was even possible to pull off on a very short clip from the RED, and I am happy to say that it is possible. (And Biba's others shots show this as well.) The footage is from a test shoot that I did when I was testing out build 16.

I still have some things to work out with the workflow, as it stands right now it is not easy to do, and it is VERY time consuming. Also, the grade I did on the clip was quick and dirty, there are issues with this still that I want to work on, but this was just to see if it could be done. So take the sample with a grain of salt, as it can be further improved.

Anyway, I'm working on editing together a set of clips, and when they are complete, I'll send out a link to the sample video. Should be fun! Enjoy! :)
