  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HDR+0

Thanks Patrick. Do you agree that 2 consecutive 90 degree tracks merged together into a single 180 degree track would look stuttery? Has anyone tested this?
Smooth ... If u want. What I will be doing with consecutive space/time frames is making "deep" frames for deep compositing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_image_compositing . Aside from simulating blurs allows deep shadow simulation and seamless overlays. DI is openexr 2 .

Patrick, I'm not sure I fully understand all of the above but is it correct to say that 2 merged tracks of random noise have less noise than either of the original tracks?

A little late, but whatever. :)

The amplitude of the noise would move towards the average, which is 50% grey, by 1/2. So you'd have less "full black" and less "full white", which makes sense: we're adding each pixel together and then dividing by two. The only way to retain "full black" would be to add two black pixels, and the only way to retain "full white" would be to add two full white pixels. Since the data is random, this will happen less often than the occurrence of full black and full white in either image, which results in the average pixel value moving towards 50%.

If you were to add together a million random black and white images, you'd get something very, very close to 50% gray in every pixel.
