The feed from the HDMI out on the dsmc1 epic dragon is more contrasty and saturated than SDI out. Anyone have this issue ?

Hmm, are they both set to the same thing (e.g. I think you can set the outputs independently -- have one set RLF and another as DG4, type of thing)... Conversely, it could be the display settings; generally HDMI is consumer TVs that are rec709 (and have contrast/brightenss/etc cranked) whereas SDI tends to be broadcast monitor that's hopefully been calibrated...

There's lots of variables.

Hi, I think you have selected a graded source in a monitor config HDMI.

Menu>Settings>Look>Video Source...
Monitor Config/ hdmi /you have gtaded?

What should I put under video source?

There's: graded, graded aces proxy, rlf, log 310, aces proxy

depends on the look you want to see, if you want to see the same on the lcd, evf, hdmi, sdi ... you'll have to put the same on all

I just checked and I placed all the same settings for both sdi and hdmi. Still get the contrasty look. Is anyone able to confirm that they both look the same?

Could it be that the monitor has some preset in the hdmi input?

Flanders Monitors don't have HDMI. They have DVI to avoid HDMI license fees. But DVI is only 8 bit so if the source is more, you may see a quality difference. You also mentioned the you are using an HDMI to SDI convertor, this may also be an issue. If you haven't already tested the HDMI on another monitor, then maybe your HDMI is messed up on your camera. I have noticed on my old DSMC1 my HDMI feed did not match the SDI feed.

This was a problem for me on SmallHD because RED sends out full levels on HDMI, and the monitor doesn't scale it correctly out of the box (though you can manually dial it in with OS3). This results in a more contrasty, clippy image. TVLogic seemed to handle it fine, though.
