  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HDMI / DVI monitor

Is there a 9" monitor that supports 1280 x 848 HDMI or DVI?

Trying to get menus displayed far from the camera.

Anybody using the Carrion this way?

TVlogic have some options, but lower resolution, I have the 7 inch and rate it highly.

OK, I've tried this. Switching the camera in to menus 'DVI' to monitor the extra menu detail works fine in to a PC Dell monitor. Full menu's can be seen.

The TVlogic 7" (and Id guess the 9" from reading the spec) seems not to support the 1280 x 848 so the input data is not supported.

The TVlogic works very well in 720 mode.

To my mind this isnt a deal breaker. I think an EVF is prefered anyway.

Its a Dell 2007WFPb.

Its fine in 1280 x 720 but does have a few picture artefacts in 1280 x 848. I only used it as it was next to me to prove the full menu output on the camera was present. I wouldn't recommend it for location use for 1280 x 848. Im happy to test it further should you wish.

There's another thread running in which I commented on the TVlogic 7" and 9" inch location monitors which are fine in 720 but don't work in 1280 x 848 via its DVI connector.

We have more LCD monitors here from various vendors which I havn't got to as yet, Let me know if you need more doing on this.

HDMI compatibility

HDMI compatibility

If you have time to do that, yes please.

The only monitors likely to lock up to the 1280 x 848 signal are multi-sync P.C monitors.

It should work if your monitor accepts 1280 x 1024 (SXGA) but I can understand why TV sets and 16:9 production monitors won't do anything with this. This signal is equal to our RED-EVF feed, so its application is as you describe.

If you change the HDMI output setting to Video (720p) then you output 1280 x 720 at 50.00 or 59.94 (based on the HD-SDI refresh setting)

That should be compatible with almost everything but it seems that the closer you get to "consumer" products, the less reliable it is.

Pro monitors almost always lock to this signal.
