  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HD Video Transmitter/Receiver System

i am going to check out that one and (hopefully) the new one from boxx at NAB, then make my call. I heard the IDX you mentioned works well for the most part though. I am curious to see how the Boxx one performs before I buy.

Any guys from Boxx or CamWave here (or maybe Mitch Gross would know)? Are you planning on having booths at NAB with working models? Cheers.

The Cam-Wave is a great solution for wireless HD-SDI at a very cost effective price, you may be able to contact IDX and request a demo unit or ask them if they will be attending any expos in your area.

hopefully someone from Boxx AND someone from IDX (or perhaps Mitch) can comment on these products leading up to NAB.

Boxx...any prices yet? Any plans for NAB? When will these units begin shipping?

IDX...is your CamWave system going to update at all in the near future? Any special NAB announcement coming?

I know this one can't carry an HD signal, but will it do the job?

I am really impressed with my Titan. It blows the doors of my modulus. I was going to buy the Camwave, but it's big, and heavy, and if you are doing a film job, you need an SD transmitter which the cam wave won't do (not composite anyway).

The only problem with the CanaTrans (aside from being illegal) is that when Digital TV comes on the scene, all the old tv channels are already sold for data transmittion, It may be really hard to get a clean signal.

I use a Modulus 3000 with an AJA HD-10M3D down converter to my JVC,
TM-H150C, CRT monitor and it works great.

It's not really an inexpensive way to do it but it works wonderful.

good input....

good input....

Thanks all...I appreciate your input.

I will be making a few calls to see if I can't see this in action before I make my purchase. Unfortunately, I need to purchase a unit before NAB.

One more thing for consideration...this unit will be attached to a RED camera used in a couple of cinematography classes at my community college. Whatever I buy should be able to hold against rugged student use.

Thanks again to all.

JEFF

We have the Cam Wave HD system available for both sale & rent. It is an excellent system and works great on the RED. Our clients used to the fuzzy, interference-filled UHF SD transmitters of the past such as the Modulus and the CanaTrans (both of which are also illegal, btw) can't get enough of the Cam Wave.

Thanks Mitch.

Can you tell me...does the unit affix directly to the RED? What type of additional hard ware is needed?

Thanks in advance.

It attaches to the battery mount and then the battery attaches to it.

Mitch have they released a new version or an upgrade option to have the Wevi compatible with transmitting RED battery data to the camera? Also, I've been told that mounting a brick to the Wevi is a no go for warranty issues. Or is that just rumor?

The unit will not pass battery data. The second part is just a rumor.

Does the CamWave have no 23.98 and 24p support in 1080p and 720p mode?
How does this work with RED then?
