  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HBO Entourage

You mean the 17-50 Pro?

Yup.

Guilty. I mistyped.

I meant the Pro 17-50mm.

Thanks for the correction, Curran.

The team at Red really seems to love that new zoom.

Looks like an Tattoo Epic when I grow up I want to be like Dino he is my hero.

guys, thanks for the nice words of encouragement, it is great to see all the support for our efforts out here on the battlefield.

for the record...

David Roodthooft & Michael Muller - Directors
Damien Vena - Producer
crash (karsten gopinath) - dp
Jeff Ferarro - GAffer
Matt Blum - Key Grip
Joe Pro - First AC
DIT - Dino Georgopoulos
Camera - Red#0031
Camera - 2 x 35mm (i dont remember which ones) - but one had a hand crank...
Lenses and support - Camtec - Thanks Kavon!

the shoot was pretty straight forward, actually it was a stil shoot that we piggy backed onto, so we really only worked for a few hours...i invited jarred up to the helipad to watch a bit, it was great to see him out on the front lines with the troops...(he pretended to bring me a hard drive to get through security , it was classic...)

glad you enjoyed it, if you watch HBO then you will also see Promos for Hung, which were also shot with RED#0031 MX and also for First Blood, which parts of those promos were shot with red#0023 MX also by crash- we were on the hung job on the same day so could not be in two places at once.

logistically, for Entourage, we had the RED#0031 MX on a technocrane and the film cameras were on a dolly and sticks...so any big moves were done with the RED, like the push through to downtown and the overhead stuff...

I love how it works so seamlessly...please reference this promo to all of your clients that doubt the quality of the red and its ability to mix with 35mm..

enjoy, and thanks again for the kind words.

finally, i think we put a couple of these Entourage shots in the NAB reel, so if you were paying attention there, you had already seen a couple of those shots....but don't tell TW/WB/HBO

What is the rectangular block above the lens, the one with the circular holes ?

it was supposed to be cut in at 1:21.. because you all know #21 is such an important number, but i think the fade in shifted it 1 second, which together in itself is ironically another hint...

Going out on a limb here but what if feature #21 was the ability to record different framerates simultaneously. Perhaps being able to record sync sound at 24P while also getting the 125fps slow motion of the same shot? Would require some pretty advanced technology, but hey, isn't that what we're looking at here? Just a wild guess.:biggrinjester:

Quite like this as a guess Will. I'd imagine you'd get 120 over 24fps so that the sensor clock works 5 to 1 (125fps over 25fps base rate). I guess it would require dual processing. But then again this might fit with Red's touted HDR mode which I guess would process two seperate recordings from the same sensor?

My god, that's a beautiful image. What are the lenses?

Guys I, JUST had an idea.... What if #21 was the ability to enable VOICE CONTROL operations, how SICK would that be?

Meaning you would have the ability to say particular phrases, or words and the camera would do it.

I.E.: Camera speed, Roll tape, Action, etc.....

Uh...

No. Not very sick. Or revolutionary.
