Hi All

Just received a second hand Canon 24mm L 1.4 MKI lens from eBay.

Done some quick tests and it strikes me that this lens is very soft with some gnarly CA on the left hand side of frame.

Have a look at the screen grab - pay attention to the left hand side posts sticking out of the water...

I know MKII lens is sharper but this seems extreme to mme, what about you ?

Thanks !

Here is the dropbox link to an R3D screen grab.

Try ND down to say f4-f5.6 and things may improve. At f13.5 with such a wide lense, my guess is diffraction may have become a factor. If that lens is f1.4 and 24mm, f13.5 could be a big ask in those conditions. Also you are facing directly into diffused sun and several million concave reflectors in the water are also having a bit of a play with the light. Better brains than mine will have better advice. Heed it more than my own comments.

Thanks Robert - appreciate your thoughts... will take them on board.
