  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has Your Red Budget Grown?

Let's not forget Econ 101, that a falling US dollar is good for US business, though it does hurt if you want to purchase foreign goods. And regardless of whether your love or hate GWB, he has pretty much jack shit to do with the exchange rate, though it's pretty easy to kick the beaten dog.

Shawn, I think Finner may be right. Bush IS responsible. I mean, this is the all powerful President who caused Hurricane Katrina to hit New Orleans because he hates black People (Kanye West said so). The G stands for God W. Bush. I just hope he doesn't get pissed off and crash the economy.

Ya and it was absolutely crazy the way Hurricane Katrina also picked up most all of the US army and forces and dropped it in Irac. It's a good thing that war doesn't cost any money though.

Other countries have had their share of natural disaters as well. What is really tanking the US dollar is the expense and dept that the US is going into because of the war. I am not making a judgement call here so please don't take it that way. In fact I am on the political right and when it all started I was disapointed that Canadas then left wing government turned their back to our closest neighbors. It's pretty simple to see the war is the strain on the value of the American dollar. But then in the begining I feel the war had nothing to do with nuculear weapons but to do with the American dollar. Irac had quite trading their oil on the American dollar which is the world standard for trading oil. This could cause major problems for the US so after asking Saddam a bunch of times to stop they finally went in and changed that themselves because if other countries had started trading oil on a different dollar the US dollar would drop faster then ever imagined. It was just fortunate for the US that Saddam was such a humman rights scum bag.

What good is an army if you don't use it? Besides, if Americans don't want to fight, they can go north and join that army.

Oh, and HOW many trillions was the last American budget? I think we can afford to spend a little on the middle east. Sure it would have been easier and cheaper to just negotiate like everyone from probably Truman through Clinton, but all that got us was 9/11. Personally, I'm not a Republican... I consider myself just a little right of center, but I like my President to be an action figure when called for, and Swartzen etc. etc. is barred constitutionally from running. Hillary may be our next President, and that's alright with me, cause underneath that pants suit is, if not actual cojones, a reasonable facsimile.

By the way how's everything going Finner? Haven't chatted in a while. How's the folks? Well, gotta go... be seeing you.

edit: posted this before seeing your edit post... hope you didn't take any of what I said personally, you, you, RIGHT WINGER you! (can't find the little smiley faces thingys to add at the end, but imagine one)

Ya I think we have some big sticks to hand out and some 22's with killer scopes on them.

I would not want to mess with her. In fact I hear after the Lewinski incident she had Bill neutered.

Hmmm... so THAT'S where she got those cojones!

by the way, what's the name of this thread... are we on topic?

I hear after the Lewinski incident she had Bill neutered.

And Bill had Monica sprayed! HAAAAAAAAA HA HA HA HAAAAAAA! (sorry, had to do just one more.)

Wow, this thread really derailed itself. Hehe...

Anyway, I'd love to comment, being the highly politically opinionated guy that I am. But how about I put the thread back on track before I have to lock it down instead...

My budget is kinda like a roller coaster. It actually seems to have shrunk a bit with the announcement of the 50-150 zoom. That will fit the bill initially instead of planning to buy that $20K prime set or something else along those lines. Ultimately, I probably will try to get a prime set - most likely from RED. Other than that, my budget for the camera system as a whole, just is what it is. I'll be acquiring the package I feel that I need to make it all work for me and it should pay for itself within the first 3 to 6 months and that's if I do my planned rate hike of 20% starting in January. Most of my existing clients are thrilled -- everyone else in town is raising their rates, but I seem to be the only one telling them that they'll also be getting a noticeable jump in quality too.

Oh, after what Graeme has said about REDCINE and REDCODE, I should be able to tough it out a bit longer on my current G5 quad as an editing workstation and not have to spring for a new Mac Pro until next year. I'm trying to hold off on the new Mac pro until I can get one with the next revision / unified quad-core CPUs and hopefully dual-channel / SLI style graphics and other goodies. I'll have to buy a 4K monitor too once they become available, but may pass and go straight for a 4K projector if it doesn't break the bank or force me to rob one.

my budget has always been the same.. me= broke
well not really.. but once i get my read Id better be making money on it one way or the other or else me= broke. I have my business loans in place.. but im sticking with my 25-30 grand budget. should set me up nicely (using nikons)
might have to dip into my savings for some awesome sticks/head.
by Jan 08 maybe spring 08 ill go ahead and get some red lenses.

hopefully around summer 08 I can afford a really big steal toed boot..
so i can kick it up some bush ass:)

no more politics

actually - sticks are not even in my budget...waiting for view factor to save me a few grand on the follow focus and mattebox options. The sticks are the one thing I will not skimp on - o'connor is probably my favorite option. It makes a world of difference to me in regards to operation...cheap sticks really are not worth a consideration to me.

Hey, maybe I missed something, but isn't REDCINE supposed to only work on Intel Macs?

(Holy shit I heard the US school system was in trouble but I had no idea it was this bad.)

All this talk about Bush tanking the dollar... Has anyone looked into the Federal Reserve? Sorry - I can't help myself: The FED controls the money supply and printing presses (through the issuance of treasury bonds and the like.)

They claim to be a quasi-governmental organisation but are in fact PRIVATE. They are not in the government section of the yellow pages - they are in the private section. They are about as federal as Federal Express. The FED represent a private clique of financiers and oligarchs with names like Rockefeller, Warburg, Rothschild and Morgan who strived for 100+ years to set up a private central bank in USA. They accomplished this 4 separate times, but were defeted by public outcry and great Presidents like Andrew Jackson. Eventually they succeeded in 1913 when they conned Congress into passing the Federal Reserve Act under dubious circumstances. After 1913 the US government effectively borrows money from the Fed. Soon after (1917) the government instituted personal income tax (for the first time), insuring that the government could honor it's debt to the private central bank.

The US Constitution grants the right to print money to the Congress - but that is not what happens today. Lincoln and Kennedy both endeavored to print (constitutional) government Greenbacks - and both met with sticky ends.

In recent history when 'governments' need money to fund projects or fight wars - they have gone to money lenders and private central banks. These bankers are not patriots - they are Internationalists. They frequently fund both sides of International conflicts. Paul Warburg wrote the FED ACT and was the first US FED chairman, while his brother Max Warburg busied himself in Germany as Hitler's banker. During WW2 the debt of all embroiled countries grew by numbers of 400% - 1300%. So who is everybody in debt to???

Through the magic of fractional reserve banking and setting interest rates the FED controls the availability or scarcity of money. They profit in booms, and buy up great portions of the economy during recessions - for pennies on the dollar. Wealth doesn't disappear - it just changes hands. During the Great Depression the super-rich made out like bandits. Vast concentrations of wealth are evidenced by todays giant multi-national corporations. 51 of the 100 biggest economies in the world are corporations. In the mid 1980's the media was controlled by 50 companies. Today that number has dwindled to 6 companies - and this trend is echoed in virtually every other financial sector.

Today the total US federal, state, municipal and personal debt far exceeds $30 trillion. When Ben Bernanke replaced Alan Greenspan as FED chairman, one of his first acts was to stop releasing the M3 money supply reports - which means we now have NO idea how much money is being printing. The more they print, the less the value in your pocket.

So no, I would argue that Bush does NOT control the money supply, interest or exchange rates. He has influence by making America a less desirable place for other countries to invest - but his friends and benefactors are getting rich so who cares? Bush is a puppet and a moron. He is not finishing his daddy's war. He is reading his script. And his fiscal track record is anything but conservative. Finner, if you are interested in a legit conservative Presidential candidate, check out Congressman Ron Paul. He is making some waves on this ugly issue.

To sum up here are a few sexy quotes:
___________

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks...will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." -Thomas Jefferson

Woodrow Wilson signed the 1913 Federal Reserve Act. A few years later he wrote: "I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world - no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." -Woodrow Wilson

Thank you, thank you, thank you. When I said that Bush didn't control the system, I thought I was saying an obvious Econ 101 statement, then everyone pounces me. You've clearly spelled it out.

For being a Canuck, you know more about American fiscal than I do!

Best-off-topic-post-ever.

The world will be much better off and the USA will be WAY!!! better off when skippy mac dumb ass is out of office..nuf said.
Anyway what was the topic ? oh, yeah, my budget has gone up.

Thanks Shawn - I'm surprised someone actually read that long-winded wank.

Probably the best example of a President fighting against the monetary powers was Andrew Jackson who waged a serious war against (and eventually defeated) the second "private central bank" of America. When asked what his greatest accomplishment was he said "I killed the bank!' - I've read it's even on his tombstone. Alas the bank didn't stay dead!

It's also important to note that the American Revolution was partly waged over the right to print money, after the Bank of England outlawed the use of Colonial Script, which was used by the Colonies as interest-free fiat currency to great effect.

That "Money Masters" film is a real eye-opener - really blew my mind.

Here's another few quotes:
___________

“That is simple. In the colonies we issue our own money. It is called Colonial Script. We issue it in proper proportion to the demands of trade and industry to make the products pass easily from the producers to the consumers. In this manner, creating for ourselves our own paper money, we control its purchasing power, and we have no interest to pay to no one.” (Benjamin Franklin)

_____

After the Bank of England issued the Currency Act of 1764, making it illegal for the Colonies to print their own moeny, Franklin wrote;

“In one year, the conditions were so reversed that the era of prosperity ended, and a depression set in, to such an extent that the streets of the Colonies were filled with unemployed.” (Benjamin Franklin)

“The colonies would gladly have borne the little tax on tea and other matters had it not been that England took away from the colonies their money, which created unemployment and dissatisfaction. The inability of the colonists to get power to issue their own money permanently out of the hands of George III and the international bankers was the PRIME reason for the Revolutionary War.” (Benjamin Franklin’s autobiography)

_____

"History records that the money changers have used every form of abuse, intrigue, deceit, and violent means possible to maintain their control over governments by controlling money and its issuance."
- President James Madison

Oh yeah, my budget has also gone up!

I have a deposite down on the prime set, but - and it kills me - I think I'll have to trade it in for the 50-150 and try to save a few bucks. Jim should never have posted that ASA stuff, as lower F-stop was my top reason for lusting after the primes! Now 2.8 doesn't sound so bad!

Jim is a very bad person, he is costing us all a bunch of money.
