  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone tried an Easyrig with your Red One?

EasyRig

EasyRig

The EasyRig is a great product specifically designed to reduce static load on the neck and shoulder muscles, and distribute it to the hips. The EasyRig is essential for handheld situations were stability is crucial and where the freedom to move is essential.

Overall, it's a must for camera operators that want to save their back.

We are considering offering a RED User Group-Buy. Please advise if anyone is interested and we'll make sure to sharpen our pencils.

Very affordable! Are you the one in the website photos shooting the Red? That rig looks much heavier than 24 lbs.

Do you use it to just take weight off your shoulder or truely use it like you would use an easy-rig (let the rig hold all the weight and just guide it to get a smooth shot)

That is indeed me (shooting David Byrne).

Not sure what the rig weighs in total -- may be closing in on 30 pounds.

In general, I just use the Atlas to lighten the load on my shoulder -- as a solution to shooting hand-held, not as some sort of steadicam device.

Definitely interested, I missed the first one. Which model would you be offering?

Secondly I assume a group buy would offer some solid discount over the B&H price of $2995?

I wasn't certain but there are so many happy customers in Reduser!

I'm definitely interested in a deal. I won't be buying until we know what an S35 with battery, monitor, rails, etc is going to weigh.

Since I'm so long in the torso, I might need a custom rod. You have them in your shop so, when the time comes, I can try one on?

I just got the easyrig 3, 700N. It´s worth every penny. It was one of the best decisions to buy it after Red1. Fantastic! It even makes a Cooke 20-100mm possible for handheld work.
Very, very strong recomendation:thumbsup:

Cut the rubber off the red handle and it'll work great. If it's not your camera, you could get a handle from red just for easyrig mounting. The top handle extension or some form of stopper is essential, though, as the camera can slip off the rig without it.

Hello Shane,
There should be no need for modification on the handle itself. There is a larger clamp handle available on the Easyrig for use on the RED. It may be the previous Easyrig owner just recieved the unit with the standard clamp handle. It is important to request for use on RED and we will make sure the proper clamp is included. As for the group buy, the units will come with the larger clamp.

Is it possible to (easily out in the field) switch back and forth between weight capacity configurations? For example, convert a ERIG-500-3 into a ERIG-700-3 or vice-versa depending on variations in camera package.

James, I didn't know that there was other handles available. I'm the original owner and bought it about 3 years ago , it's still going strong after a lot of use.
I actually prefer the red handle without the rubber as I don't have to use risers to get my hand around the grip. (I have the ET top cheese plate installed.) What does a new clamp cost ?
Anyway, It's a great product and I've been telling people about it since I bought one. To anyone considering a purchase, it may seem expensive at first but try one for a day and you'll be a convert.

There are two ways to modify the EasyRig to accommodate different weight capacities.

Option #1
Replace the internal shock mechanism. This is the most cost effective solution--but, it will take approximately 20-30 minutes to change using the right tools.

Option #2
Have a spare EasyRig support arm. This will produce faster support arm changes--matter of minutes. But, the cost of the spare support arm is much more--but still considerably less than a new EasyRig unit.

Hi Paul,
It can be done by two different methods. It just depends upon how much time you have to do either. One would be to get a spare support bar with a different load suspension in it already ( should only require a few minutes to change out ). The other would be to get a separate suspension drop in kit which requires disassembly of the support bar ( should take 20 to 30 minutes to feed line and reassembly ).

Hi James,

How can you tell what model you have? I got mine from you or maybe Brian at Band Pro a couple of years ago for our F900.

Thanks

John

Normally there is a label stuck just under the rubber cuff on the upper part of the support bar. If it is not there then we should be able to tell by the serial number located on the inner cup. To find the serial number, just pull apart your arm at the rubber cuff and you should see a 4 to 5 digit number stamped on the coupler by the main tube. Granted the serial number will only be verifiable for model as long as the suspension was not changed sometime ago. The only other option is weigh your unit and tell me what it is and I can tell you your model.
