I have a potential film project in Venezuela. Not being familiar with the country I'm trying to determine if there are any travel or safety concerns for taking a RED ONE or EPIC with lenses into the country.
We will also be shooting in areas without power access for much of the time. Any suggestions?

Never mind.
I should have done more checking online first. Government travel advisories show that travel to Venezuela is not recommended. Theft is a major problem, even when items are in hotel safes. In the countryside, gangs roam freely. (If you're mugged your not supposed to make eye contact because they'll shoot you.) The country also ranks highest in the world in murders. It would be an adventure, but I think we'll pass on the opportunity. Ironically the project is being funded by the Venezuela Film Commission. (At least they have said they would.)

i have done a job in caracas with crash. it was not that big of a deal, it was a couple of years ago, March 2009. we went with an american production company but we were doing a commercial for the venezuelan market.

the crew was experienced, i believe i posted pictures and info from the shoot back then. Reduser "Tuki" helped us out by bringing an HD10MD3 and a Panasonic monitor to set as we were short one set up. He is a local and has a red one there.

My father is from Caracas and he and my mother were last there a couple years ago. No issues. I would go to Venezuela before I would go to, say, Mexico.

Hi Mike,

I live in Caracas, and was owner of a RED One till few weeks ago, which I brought into the country as personal luggage. You can come and run your producction, I do it all the time, however, some precautions have to be taken for your personal safety and equipment.
