  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone successfully did the "spinning camera" move similar to what Michael Bay...

Bay actually does these mostly with a techno crane, and sometimes with a Pursuit Arm. I've only seen the circular dolly set up a few times...

Since I shot the one in Bad Boys 1 it was accomplished with a circular dolly track with the move moving in the opposite direction to how Will And Martin are turning (only they turn very slightly) Michael of course may have shot the shots differently in his future films

It's quite simple but very nicely done.

I remember learning that thing looking at The Lion King when I was a boy.
Tried different ways, angles and close ups values with my home camera and my brother after that. It was so awesome.

When I saw Bad Boy later as a teenager, these particular shots were even better when you knew how to do them. Production value for our own movies. I love grip so much :)
