  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone seen this/had this happen/what it is?

This distorted frame appeared in my footage from a shoot I had today. It looks like only one instance of this occurred. I may remember reading about this happening on another thread. Any idea what it is, how to fix it, or if it will happen again?

Shot at 4KHD/29.97
Scarlet Build 3.3.1.4

Thanks!

I believe what was the common reason was that the cable for the side SSD module was not seeded fully. But I would refer to whatever RED tech support suggests.

What ended up being the cause for you?

My camera never had this problem, but I remember reading 3 threads about this issue and 2 out of the 3 was the cable not fully seeded.

There could be different kind of issues....worst....Image Processing board is damaged. It happened to me just 1 month ago.

I have had a similar thing happen once. It turned out to be a problem with the file on our server, and once I played back from the card there was no issue. For some reason, the on-set transfer corrupted the file. Definitely go back to the file on your SSD and see how it looks.

I had similar issue but thought it may be a corrupt file transfer issue. Maybe check like said before the playback in camera if you can.
And make sure your cables and everything related to file transfer is connected well.
When I did so I could not repeat the problem.
You should also send a log and start a ticket to RED so they can comment on it.

Well this is strange. I still have the original footage on the REDMAG, and plays back fine at the exact same frame in the camera with no visual error. But when I re-transfer the shot back to my HD, I see the same error again at the exact same frame.

I had a similar issue (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?82978-Footage-Distortion-from-Scarlet-X) and I sent it off to Red as it was a faulty component. They've just finished testing it and should be sending back within the next day or so. I've seen this issue creep up now and then with some Scarlet owners. Some have been resolved with a firmware update, some by sending the camera back (me). Just submit a ticket. They'll ask you to send in the log file and they'll be able to figure it out pretty quickly. Good luck!

I had the same problem. We tried to debug everything according to threads here on reduser but ended up returning the camera to red and they changed the circuit board. It was a hardware failure.

seen it a couple of times on sets. It will disappear, but trust me, it will reappear and mess up your shoot. Send it back to red doctors asp.

Yes, I would agree with this or the LCD cable.
