Has anyone noticed how BIG Scarlet makes things look?

Whenever I see my images captured through the lens of my Scarlet I always think they look 'big'. As if I was seeing them on a huge silver screen - it always ends up making me even more excited to genuinely see these images on a large screen. Anyone else finding this? Couple of snaps below of my beloved crew... looking 'big'....

If you are referring to the fact that his forehead looks too big, that is just what you get when you are in close with a wide angle lens. It's not a Scarlet thing. ;-)

I know what you mean......the images from mine are so much deeper and ummm....yeah...."bigger" than what I'm used to....and I'm not refering to lens distortion like Scott stated above....It's hard to explain but I know what you're saying..it's awesome!

Greater dynamic range = greater exposure latitude = greater happiness with resulting images.

I love the cinematic 'big' of the Red aesthetic as well! : )

Scott - Haha, no I'm referring to something magical about the 'cinema' effect the Scarlet has.

I recall that in the earlier days of Epic someone was describing the image as 'fat'. I think I get that.

However, on an interesting note - both of my attached images were shot using a 35mm lens at 4k ! One definitely looks wider I would have said.

Oh shit, the Scarlets and rulers will be getting a heavy workout tonight thanks to you. If any of you guys get the urge to ask "Why are are my Scarlet images so soft all of a sudden?" tomorrow, be sure to wipe the Vaseline off of your lens first.
