  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone had an issue using the Kondor Blue D-Tap to 6 pin Lemo power cable?

Luckily I was just running a camera test and it wasn't on set. I was testing out the Red Raptor on a Ronin Rs3 gimbal. And I plugged in a Red V mount battery into the Kondor Blue D-Tap to 6 pin Lemo cable to power the camera. So it plugs into the Dtap of the battery and plugs into the DC-In on the camera. I also had a formatted card in the camera.

Once I did that, the camera would not boot up. It would stay on the skull logo. After a lot of trouble shooting, had to hard reset the camera. Ended up updating the camera and monitor. But after I got the camera back up and running, it fried the media card. And then the camera would not boot up again with that card in the camera. But would boot up without it. And if I put the media into the camera once it was up and running, the camera could not recognize the card. I also tried 2 different computers. And nothing could read the card or bring it back to life.

Luckily it's under warranty and everything is fine. But I'm like, what if that was on a shoot!? I'd be in trouble!

So, has anyone had an issue like this? My best guess is there was some sort of power surge. But to fry a card like that is weird.
Thanks in advance for any input!

Thanks!

I had the same thing happen recently, but I wasn’t using any alternative power methods. It happened with V-Mount attached to the camera, then again using the AC converter that ships with the camera.

I had just updated the firmware on my cards (Red 660 and 2TB) while prepping for a gig and the problems started immediately after that. The cards were under warranty and were replaced fairly quickly. I haven’t updated the firmware on the replacement cards and everything has been working fantastically. And yes, I did check the FW version on the cards when I received them and neither were running the latest FW. I’m just going to keep it that way.

It’s also worth noting that I had also updated the camera FW to the latest release build, and after contacting Red they told me to roll back to the previous release build, and I’m still living there in fear that upgrading will fry my cards again.
