Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
I put the mount on at Pawel's request. He then modified the internals of the cam so that it would accept his Master Primes, so it was a joint effort. I didn't feel good about "gutting" a brand new 50D. Funny thing is, Pawel wanted to use his Master Primes to shoot stills, as I recall, whereas everyone else wanted to use Canon still cameras to shoot motion.
I think "The Bicycle" by John Inwood is a real good example of mixing RED with Canon 5D (i think all shots use Zeiss glass though). As for me, any time my Red could get whacked, out comes the Canon, into the lovingly encased foam cushion surrounded by iron goes the Red.
Very good reviews on this picture so far. Not a single one (Rolling Stone, Village Voice, USA Today) seemed to notice it was shot on a $2500 camera. Daily Variety called "an exquisite, beautifully acted gem of a film." It's as if content and performance matters more than resolution...
The trailers I saw looked OK, but I did notice quite a bit of rolling shutter issues in certain shots. Haven't seen the whole thing yet.
