So I was looking at some behind the scenes clips of the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter park at Universal Studios and I noticed that the newest ride, "The Forbidden Journey" was shot with the RED. Pretty cool, especially since all of the films have been shot on film. I'm sure the extra resolution of 4K definitely helps submerse everyone in the ride.

Here's the behind the scenes look at the park. http://www.nbc.com/Movies_Specials_More/video/episodes/#vid=1232493

They've been having soft openings all week, and I sure as hell know I'm going to be going on Thursday, so I'll try to pay a little bit of attention to picture detail.

It was indeed, as was the Super Bowl TV spot for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

I was Red Camera technical supervisor on both.

Ok, so I finally got to go to one of the sneak peak openings today of Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and I have to say that using the Red was an excellent decision for shooting the scenes for the Forbidden Journey ride.

First off, with a giant screen taking over every square inch of your vision, it was a no brainer to shoot in 4K. Everything was so lifelike and accurate looking. And the hologram images looked amazing. I could definitely tell those parts were shot on Red too. Great way to incorporate video in new ways.

And of course, the moving portraits. What better way to recreate it than by using an actual DSMC.

Sorry if I'm a little over excited. I've been reading the series since I was a kid and I'm just overwhelmed by how well everything turned out. Congrats to all who were involved. And Red Team, this is definitely something you wanna come down here to see for yourself.

I'm an old fart (60) and I have read the Potter stuff twice now. May have to go to Orlando to check this out. I saw a bit on TV the other night and thought I saw a Red drive on one of the rigs! Very cool. BTW, my MX will be home 6/14, shooting on 6/15...
