This shouldn't be on an off topic section since this forum is made by the great reduser.net members team, but anyway...

Today, it's the birthday of one of the most coolest members of this community: Andrew Benz

And if there's who must be grateful to a couple of parents for the achievement, I'd like to join the choir...

Happy Birthday Mr. Benz!

Andrew is a cool guy.
More than "the cool" type, he's one of the most sensitive and beautiful human beings that we've met over here. Kudos to you Andrew!

Tom, damn that picture is a little too close for comfort (hahah)... though I have been told that I more closely resemble a orangutan who is quick to "present" the "Red Ass". Haha...

Tom, thank you man. Your time lapse work is not only inspiring but I have been able to learn quite a bit through your online discussions with others. Also, my offer from last year to you still stands when we can get the schedules worked out. You passion and work is contagious, Cheers brother....

Jo, Vanda and Co... For all the people/friends who gave up on me after the accident... these feelings and the love behind them mean the world to me. Thank you, I really wish all of you were here... I have a group coming over now who would love to meet all of you. I really wish you were all here... thank you. ;-)

Yup It's your day pal

Gordon, thank you sir very much, you made it a great day better.

Happy birthday sucka !

Richard, you rat bastard, I appreciate it. But, I have enjoyed your work and footage so much. You really put it out there and rocked a lot of people who do not see the RED ONE as a viable option for single op/EFP use. The catty facebook, the (macro) snail footage and your first LA montage really blew me away. Seriously... thank you.

"BUON COMPLEANNO" ANDREW, my friend!

Ciao

Ketch, the only guy I know of who has taken a bigger beat down than me... Your upbeat attitude, your love of life, food, people and canon glass has been worth it's weight in gold.

People are showing up for the party... got to go.

PM sent to you my dear friend... thank you for everything. You have humbled me again.

Wow, thanks, man. Are you still thinking about getting that moco rig? I've been trying to follow that project. Right now I think I have an idea of how to make a 2-axis moco timelapse rig (dolly & pan) for about $2,200, so I'm gonna go ahead and do it, then wait to see what becomes of these other rigs.

How old are you, BTW? :)

Hey Tom, I am still getting the Mirus (#24) and very excited to take delivery in May. My concern for timelapse with the Red mirrors yours... the ability to keep the shutter open for long, night time exposures. I am currently looking for DSLR options like yourself and following the threads, but the cash...

I look forward to your moco rig, see I am not that bright... I need the brilliance of Curt. Are you looking to use this with your Red or your DSLR?

Now for the big question... I am 39 going on 30, but this is going to be a great year to raise my game.:)

Cheers...

Andrew

ps... Tom have you watched "Cashback"? If not put it on the Netflix list, we are about to pop it in and chill for the night.:whistling:

Well my friend life will always smile at us ... always, no matter what!

Hope I do get to see you at NAB.

Ciao

Thank you very much everyone, yesterday was a great day with friends here in Little Rock (the weather was perfect in the mid 70's) and on reduser as well. I am a very lucky man there is no doubt, thank you all for the reminder.

Acehole (the "wedge in" mantra is always a classic), hope your well, I know you liked "wristcutters" (I did as well thanks for the heads up) but you really need to see "Cashback"! Beautiful film, I promise you will dig it on several levels.

Joofa, thank you sir! Everytime you type something here or at c.com I learn something. Your posts are invaluable to me, even if I have to read them a few times.:bleh:

Occular, FMG and Ketch, I really appreciate you guys. Now Ketch, I won't be at NAB, but I understand I will have some great pictures of some shrimps swimming in white wine sauce... hahah (thanks Ketch for the good words)

Cheers everyone and have a great weekend. I need to hydrate...:whistling:

Im glad you got to watch it! I have indeed seen cashback and I love that film! Im surprised you mentioned it really because I was looking at the script the other day for inspiration for my own..

Heheh the wedge in. Its a bit of an ever so obscure 'in' thing for all of us ORIGINAL red users. (Dont worry newbs, you just wont get the stupidity of it, but incase you are curious, search tool is you friend!)

Ah, you're a year older than me, old timer! :)

For starters I am planning to use the moco just for DLSR timelapse, but the system would work with RED during daytime hours.

The first part I am getting is this rotary table from mumford:

http://www.bmumford.com/photo/rotary/index.html

That will allow me to do 360 pans with the camera only moving between exposures - perfect for night stuff. Then I will add a "dolly" axis with a second rotary table. I think 90% of the shots I have in mind will work with only two axes - pan and dolly.

Once you get your rig, I'd love to help you plan out some shots. The main shot I have in mind with Curt's rig is doing a moco composite with a night timelapse comped with moving actors captured on RED. You'd shoot the humans at dusk, then do an identical pass with the moco system in the same spot that night, to get the stars. I've never really seen anyone pull off a shot like that, so I think it could be great. :) The only question is, how would you light the humans at dusk, and would you need a bluescreen to make a clean comp.

Nope I haven't seen Cashback.
