5 years ago this site (reduser.net) came into existence (2006 december 27th/28th in my case), merging followers from dvxuser.com, dvinfo.net and cinematography.com + hdforindies.com
These were the sites RED & Jim Jannard first publicly announced his plans for a 4K digital cinema camera back in December 2005.

RED ONE was first announced in December 2005 on the previously mentioned sites, so after a full year of routinely checking all the above mentioned sites, we were all joined here 5 years ago, getting all the news in one place!

There is a lot to add to timeline, most important perhaps: Jarred Land´s move from dvxuser moderator/owner to Jim Jannards right hand. (as seen from the outside)

I have to many details in my memory, and some are inacurate so I will stay away from any futher attempts to go into the history of RED, but ladies and gentlemen IT´S BEEN FIVE VERY GOOD YEARS AT REDUSER.NET, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

(I have spent too much time here, but it´s been well spent, here I get the latest news. I can see other peoples problems (the few that exist), and try to avoid getting into them and if I do, know how to get out of them. And most importantly meet friends and share information! LOVE IT!

It has just started!

The oldest post I found (there are older posts):

Finally: RED is the BEST thing that happened to me in my professional life! I am with you all the way!

You would think they would have come farther by now... ;P

and people wonder about back orders... which will be gone in a couple months... I have complete faith.

Congrats RED>.. while we all expected the 617 Sensor in our hands by now. this Epic -X will do nicely :P

Great stuff going back and reading.
Fantastic stuff.

I've been here since April of '07, but going back and seeing this stuff from even before then is absolutely dumbfounding. To think we came from a non working prototype at NAB 2006 to the point where a little over 5 years later we've seen the Red One ship in the thousands, already have the first sensor upgrade, Epic and now Scarlet shipping, massive blockbusters, TV series, and tons of independent projects all shot on Red. From not having a working camera to show to this in under 6 years. That's absolutely astounding.

Its been a fun ride watching from the first prototypes, all the renders, to now waiting for my own Red camera to be my creative tool in just a few short months.

Blink, folks, and you might miss it.

Jim, Jarred, Deanan, Graeme, Brent, Rob, and everybody else at Red...
*%$& Yeah!

Happy Birthday reduser! I come from the dvxuser side and still regularly go there even after my soon to be Epic purchase (already sent full amount to Red). Really love the input and sharing philosophy of this site, something that comes from the "genes" of dvxuser, also founded by Jarred. One of the reasons of my red epic purchase is due to both dvxuser and reduser, which have helped me improve and grow in my field of work throughout these 7 or 8 years of posting, reading and learning in both these sites! Keep up the good work and may these 5 years be just the beginning of many decades of growth and sharing, always keeping the spirit of the founding members! And may the Red team continue to support this site as it always have, with info, sharing, direct communication and feedback! Love to read your thoughts over here, Jim, Jarred, Graeme, Rob, Brent and the rest of the team!

EDIT- Of course, very big Kudos to all moderators and contributors like Jeff, Martin, David Mullen ASC, etc!

Great stuff

RED and REDuser are just about as old as Facebook. How time flies!
