Any tools that allow one to "hand crank" a RedOne while shooting?

When Jeff Kreines was developing his Kinetta prototype (never made it to production, unfortunately), he proudly showed a rather retro feature on it - a hand crank. Many people thought he was nuts, or just Jeff (if you know him you'll understand that statement), but here you are, more than 5 years later, asking for it.

Some folks are nuts. Some are just ahead of their time..

Arri also has a handcrank for the D21, was fun to play with. They had it on IBC last year or was it allready 2 years ago ?

How does the post effect look? would it pass for the real deal?

It can be done relatively effectively in after effects with time remapping and then wiggle on the levels. Although I would add a few layers of wiggle so there is less of a pattern.

You may not be doing it for an old movie style but just for information sake I would note if you were, the main pitfalls people fall into are that the brightness levels should not be associated with the crank as the varying in light levels was more to do with power and light instability in film processing. The flicker too has nothing to do with the hand crank as this was due to the shutter on the projectors were slower so if was effectively seen by the audience on every pull.

Hand-cranking did affect the obviously the speed and a slight stutter is a by product of that alone.

If I was to do it in old movie-syle, it would break it down into those elements and recreate each one independently and find a nice happy medium.

I seem to remember something about them using Hand-crank on Man on fire but i may be wrong.
