Hi Guys,

I have quite a bit of aerial work with my RED coming up and the company I am working for would like me to look into gyro stabilization systems.
I wanted to to see if anyone here has experience with....preferably small and portable...gyro systems and can recommend anything ?

by stabilizer systems I mean the ones that can be used from inside the cabin or from the side of the helicopter....not the massive 360degree remote controlled balls of course :)

thanks for the help.

Hello Dominic.
One Kenyon Gyro can stabilize only 2 axis, depending the possition you place it.
So you need 2 gyros to do better stabilizing so you are covered for all 3 axis.
The other thing is that just placing the gyros mounted on the camera can stabilize a certain amount but it cant be hard mounted , there has to be some ISOLATION,because you have great vibrations from the heli.
Its not that simple but it can be done in various ways.
Because putting the camera on the shoulder with all these gyros will just be very heavy.

We are in a future process of making a gyro module.
As I can see you are into a fast solution I can give you some advice on how to build an easy system with 2 KS8 AND a dual inverter for the KS8s gyros and then use the same gyros for a later upgrade.
I can also build a custom rig based on these configuration gimbalized for your red or Epic.
Pm me for information if you are interested.
I can advise you the least , on how configurations work and what you should look for .As I said you can do this in various ways.
Is you platform side heli shooting?

I would interesed in the advice also as I have 2 ks8 gyros. Sitting on bench

The Air-Gunner gyrostabilized platform for aerial and vehicle shooting can be supplied with or with out Kenyon Gyros of your choice and can house 1-4 gyros.
3 axis gimbal design, xy adjustable dovetail camera stage, and elastic cord 4 point antivibration tension adjustable design, telescopic post and gyro frame base insures best possible stability and isolation in a perfectly balanced rig.
It can be screwed on the floor of Hellis, cars , tracks, boats and it can also work with
3D rigs for stereoscopic cinematography.
Additional handle bars allows you to operate the rig as you would normally operate a tripod head having all controls of the camera on your hands, like zoom , focus, e.t.c.
Contact me directly for questions and prices.
Thanks

Edit: For reduced delivering time 3-4 weeks ,if you live in the USA or other countries that have KENYON distributors and can buy the Kenyon gyros directly it can save time and money. Placing the gyros on the Air-Gunner is very easy and the rig will come with a pdf easy instructions. I can advise what kenyon gyros is best for your application and camera load. I have my own gyros for testing the rig before shipping.
Thank you

Edit: For 3d light weight rigs, mirror or side to side type, some extra accessories required as well as some counterweights.
For this application is best to use the bigger Kenyons KS12.
