My EVF solarises in the shadows on my M-sensor camera. Got no picture on the MX camera.

did black shading. restored all settings. rebooting software now too.

Still the same

Picture is normal everywhere but shadows.

Anyone seen this before? The cameras and view finders are going away for a while this weekend and we need to sort this out.

Any help is muchly appreciated.

Yes seen this before. Only in Norway when filming in the snow. So Gunleik's question seems valid :) If that's the case, some heatpacks might be able to help you out..

No it's not; that's the strange thing. Alan at Red Europe was nice enough to see too it as soon as possible but just before it left after reboot, black shade the fault was gone...:confused5:

If it's not the chill but the more general bug - you don't need to reboot the whole cam (most often) unplugging and replugging the EVF most often does the trick. If that doesn't help, try swap'ing the cable.

For real? I usually get a green flash when plugging it in. No green flash on the MX camera, just black.

Actually, the other viewfinder didn't work after faulty one was plugged in, power cycled the camera then the good one worked again. Faulty one didn't but the good one worked after the faulty one, unlike the time before, so I can't ascertain whether it was the viewfinder or the port. It's got to be at least 22 degrees Celcius here in London so I doubt it's the temperature issue.

Axel, you reckon it's a bug specific to the EVF, it's going to be hard for me to get that past the client who's going to the desert for 3 weeks.

Thanks for all your replies my o's

swapped cables, did reboots. unplugged and replugged. no pattern was evident.

I had this once and reloaded the software...It was build 21 at the time...

Have not seen it since...TG!

Mine does the same thing....solarizes at odd times nothing consistant, unplug replug usually does the trick
